The Sandbox - Mega City Land Sale Incoming!

in #hive-1679223 years ago

frens, the metaverse has become a bit of a meme and is weird to talk about because it's just a concept. There is not just one metaverse, there are tons of them in all different flavors. From The Sandbox to Decentraland to the Uplift World in Minecraft, they all have unique traits and styles. They even exist on different blockchains and platforms. Today we're looking at the upcoming Land Sale in The Sandbox.

The Sandbox: Mega City

The Sandbox is one of the most popular decentralized metaverse projects built on Ethereum. Users can but land and other NFTs and do pretty much whatever the hell they want with their assets. Many major brands and celebrities are getting their stake in The Sandbox like Snoop Dogg with his SnoopVerse. Atari and adidas also have land and will be building some really cool stuff. I can't wait to see more and more companies acquire virtual real estate and start building in the metaverse. This is a step in the right direction for the future of digital commerce. The Sandbox announced today that they have added new partners from different industries such as art, film, music, real estate, and gaming to create a new cultural hub - Mega City. You can check the full announcement The Sandbox Mega City for all the specific details.

These new partners have all acquired land NFTs and have committed to building in Mega City. There will be a Land Sale for plots near these partners in Mega City on January 13th! The Sandbox has recently been expanding Hong Kong into the metaverse and Mega City is going to be its own version of that. They have acquired over 165 partners including The Walking Dead, The Smurfs, Care Bears, and many more. The list continues to grow as more companies and brands realize that the metaverse is not going anywhere. It's slowly creeping into the lives of more and more people every day just like crypto is. With expansion comes new opportunity - more Land available for sale.

This land sale will consist of 7 estates, 61 lands, and 95 Premium lands. These premium lands will come with exclusive NFTs and will have the possibility to host events and other things. Th Sandbox consists of 166,464 LAND NFTs and they have already sold over 70% so LAND is getting scarce. Often with scarcity comes increased demand and higher prices. I imagine that this land sale will be sold out within a few seconds regardless of what the prices might look like. So the question is - Are you ready to drop some ETH on a piece of land in this new area in The Sandbox? They are not cheap and you'll have to sell a kidney for the gas fee alone...

LANDS will be sold for 1,011 SAND - roughly $4,900. Premiums will be sold for 4,683 SAND - roughly $23,000. The Estates will be auctioned and I imagine they will hit prices well over $100,000 based of previous sales. IF you have some ETH bags and are ready to get yourself some LAND, don't miss out! Unfortunately, I'm just a simple farmer and I can't afford it. Good luck with the sale!

My question and thoughts when it comes to this virtual land sales/cash grabs is as more and more people see this being a think what is stopping a major brand/company to come and establish their own metaverse at scale making land and access far more affordable to the masses to have land, worlds, planets, or whatever it maybe of their own even if it is like a starship.

I'm sure stuff like sandbox and decentraland will still hold decent value, but it feels almost as a retracement can also occur as sand just had the big spike as mana and sand were only at under 50cents for the longest time. Or do you feel because there is a squeeze on land and as the percentages dwindle we are going to see a spike? Right now I'm trying to think and weigh things on as opportunity cost.
