Leo is going through a lot of changes.
In the most recent AMA, we were told of a couple new features that are about to roll out. Both of these are very important and could have a major impact upon the platform.
The first is Leo Premium. This is similar to Twitter Blue whereby people pay a monthly fee of 10 HBD to gain access to more advanced features. The claim is that most of what is enjoyed by the userbase will remain. What will change is the additional access that will be incorporated by having a Premium membership.
Our second option is the ad revenue contract finally going live. The date is November 1 according to what we are told.
Here we have the potential to see a revenue stream built. Obviously, over time, the goal is to grow it where we see a large sum of money flowing into the Leo ecosystem on a monthly basis. The first step is getting it live and establishing a baseline of activity.
Both of these will help to change the potential of Leo.
Money Money Money
Leo is Web3.
To me, this much is certain. We see the development of a business that is meant to generate revenues. However, unlike the traditional model where shareholders or insiders reap the majority of the financial benefits, Leo is community driven.
What does that mean?
It all starts with Leo Power. The idea behind the ad revenue is to buy $LEO off the market. This will be, in part, distributed to the holders of Leo Power. It is a way of garnering a return simply for holding the token.
Then we have the ad revenue that is paid to the authors. Much like Elon Musk is doing with Twitter, we have a similar concept with Leo. The clicks generated of one's articles will be totaled. Whatever the value in ad revenue, the author will get half of that.
In other words, there could be more money coming in on your content, including the evergreen, than just rewards. Here we see the entire model being changed.
More money...money...money.
This is something that should garner a bit of attention.
Content Creation Business
We know there are a few who make some serious bank being content creators. Some YouTube channels generate a tidy sum of money each month. Unfortunately, the average content creators on that social media network makes very little (or nothing).
It is a world for the select few to profit.
With Leo, it is different. We already know there is no level to hit for rewards to be paid. If the dust level is surpassed, one will receive whatever HP tied to the votes received. The same is true for LEO. After the 7 day period, one's wallet is filled.
However, now we see another layer. Articles that receive traffic will generate ad revenue. The author, regardless of how long ago it was written, will receive a portion of that.
Suddenly, there is incentive to think more long-term. Up to this point, the concern is getting the votes now, get paid, and move on.
Will this attract a new type of content creator? Time will tell. At least we can see how the potential exists with this new model.
In Conclusion
Leo is expanding into areas that is much different than we saw in the past with Hive. This is a bonus that could really benefit content creators and users. How it all will pan out will be revealed over the next few months.
Nevertheless, the fact that we are seeing the tentacles expanding in different directions is encouraging. We are now on the eve of a new model going into effect. It is one that the users have the ability to influence whether it is a success or not.
