What Is GHAWG?

#GHAWG is short for "God's Hog: A Watchful Guardian." This fictional story tells how David Guardia, a courier and business owner from Bayonne, New Jersey, US moved into the next phase of his life after spending the final ten years of his ailing father's life helping him.

"Will do, Templar," Leo said to me. Before we rode out of Chicago, Rivera came to me.

"That's it for you?"

"My work here's done. Yours, Aníbal, is just getting started. Someone needs to document the next 2 years in this town."

🏍️ The three principals of the day's events-- Lieutenant Terry Leo of the Chicago Police Department Auxiliary, independent journalist Aníbal Rivera, and Prophet of The Lord {David Guardia}-- go their separate ways, although Leo and Rivera will be connected to each other by Leo's apparently quixotic quest to be elected Mayor of Chicago. David, on the other hand, resumes leading Felix Legion on its ride toward University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to drop off The Kids, Sanjay Rampersad and Lionel Odunsi. As one of the few openly declared Republicans in a city historically dominated by the machine of the Democrat Party, Terry Leo had already begun his campaign earlier than usual because he needs time to cultivate and grow his name recognition among the voters of Chicago. The events of this day greatly boosted his name recognition.

"Leo, a Republican, is really going to beat the Democrat machine here?" Rivera asked me.

"So says The Lord. 2024'll look like a school board election compared the election for Mayor of Chicago. You'll have a blast covering it."

🏍️ Aníbal Rivera still can't believe that Terry Leo will be elected mayor simply because everything that could be stacked against him was. David Guardia assures Rivera that Terry Leo the policeman will become Terry Leo the Mayor. Given the insanity surrounding how the corporate and legacy media covered the presidential campaign of Donald Trump in 2016, David is giving Rivera an idea of what he can expect to witness for the next two years as this unconventional candidate attempts to do the virtually impossible.

"I guess I'll park myself in Chicago until 2030," Aníbal Rivera told me. "What's next for you?"

"We have 2 kids to escort to UNC before we head west for Iowa. Then I can begin the next phase of my life."

🏍️ Aníbal Rivera acknowledges his role in this story in the making, and David reminds Rivera of his next mission: bring The Kids to UNC safely. Although the Spanish expression for some form of good bye (in this case, "Go with God") is common throughout both the arts and daily life, it was Keanu Reeves as Johnny Utah in the 1991 version of Point Break which inspired me to include it here.

Aníbal Rivera is one of the most famous Puerto Rican Jews of the last 100 years; I replied in Hebrew "Lehitra'ot" to his Spanish "Go with God."

🏍️ It was because of that detail about Aníbal Rivera that David Guardia said goodbye to the older gentleman in Hebrew. It's at this moment when Felix Legion prepares to get out of town; this town, Chicago.

If we rode I-90 out of Chicago & into Indiana, we would end up on Indiana Toll Road. Tolls aren't fun, so I had Lionel instruct CPD to take US-41 & US-20 to the state line. From there we took US-20 to a hotel near the airport.

🏍️ This was a travel entry explaining why one route was preferred over another. Although Felix Legion wasn't going far-- between 15 and 20 miles more before calling it a day in neigboring big city Gary, Indiana, US-- this ride felt different from those of the previous few days. With all that took place in Chicago, Illinois, US, it's as if the last day of the ride on Old Route 66 was ages ago.

"Who's K. C. Callaway?" Frank asked me as I studied the business card.

"Kaylee Chloe Callaway, an important person in my life," I said to all, including Rhonda.

"How so?" Rhonda asked.

"Without her, none of us would be here."

🏍️ Kaylee Chloe Callaway-- K. C.-- is the motorcycle mechanic David Guardia met in East Palestine, Ohio, US to fix his original Harley-Davidson motorcycle, a two-wheeled vehicle. How long ago was his meeting with K. C.? David had not met anyone who would influence his ride to STURGIS from his hometown of Bayonne, New Jersey, US. In fact, K. C. Callaway would be first such person David would meet. Shortly after this meeting David would meet [Jacob Angel](https://inleo.io/@magnacarta/re-leothreads-2wr8zk}, Aníbal Rivera and the uncanny Manny Rey.

🏍️ Even though Rhonda Bella Guardia is normally secure in her person, she felt a bit of jealousy toward K. C. Callaway. Only when David explains how he met her does Rhonda begin to feel more at ease with her role in David's life.

"What's the story?" Hank asked me.

"As soon as I entered Ohio at East Palestine," I began, "I sensed the Harley was about to die. I had K.C. take a look; she fixed it."

"What was it?" Sanjay asked.

"Solenoid Cascade Failure."

🏍️ David Guardia retells the circumstances surrounding his meeting of East Palestine motorcycle mechanic K. C. Callaway. He also reveals the nature of the problem which was ailing the two-wheeled Harley-Davidson motorcycle he had purchased just to make his ride to STURGIS.

Story Arc So Far

David Guardia has final words with both Liieutenant Terry Leo of the Chicago Police Department Auxiliary and independent journalist Aníbal Rivera. David promises Rivera that the next two years will be fruitful and exciting from a journalistic perspective. Lieutenant Leo provides Felix Legion a police motorcycle escort to take the crew to state lines before it finishes its ride for the day in Gary, Indiana, US. During down time at their overnight lodging, David introduces the rest of Felix Legion to K. C.-- Kaylee Chloe-- Callaway, the motorcycle mechanic responsible for keeping his dream to reacching STURGIS alive. Whether she knew this or not, K. C. Callaway also kept David's journey alive long enough to be transformed into his Epic Ride.
