Cairn's, Australia A Must Visit Tourist Destination
Goooood day Lion's I trust you're safe and well and for those in the West, keeping warm. Here on the Eastern part of the globe we are experiencing summer and if you been following me closely over the past few days you would have seen how we went off for a holiday to Tropical Far North Queensland. Visiting Cairn's and Port Douglas.
If you're from another country and unsure where this is in Australia, you'll be familiar with the Great Barrier Reef. Cairn's is known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and this tropical city offers a large amount of experiences for visitors and locals alike.
My family and I often visit but this time, I had the opportunity to capture Cairns from a unique perspective through the lens of my drone. From the warm waters of the Esplanade Lagoon to the bustling marina and the dynamic CBD, these aerial views show a city that’s as captivating from above as it is on the ground and by the end of it, hopefully you'll come and visit.
The Esplanade Lagoon
The Esplanade Lagoon is one of Cairns' most iconic attractions seeing it from above is literally a different view and experience. This man made lagoon is a well known gathering spot for locals and tourists, offering a safe and scenic place to swim away from crocodiles and stingers (Jelly Fish) and to relax and soak in the tropical climate.
From the air, the lagoon’s crystal clear waters glisten under the Queensland sun framed by lush palm trees and landscaped gardens. The turquoise hues of the water contrast beautifully with the surrounding greenery and the modern architecture of the Esplanade.
The drone captures the Oasis style the local government and architects were trying to achieve which isn't always as apparent from the ground.
The Marina
The Cairns marina is another great spot for aerial photography. As the launch point for countless adventures to the Great Barrier Reef, this area is bustling with life and activity. From above, the marina transforms into a mosaic of boats, docks and shimmering water. The yachts and catamarans are all neatly lined up like pieces of a nautical puzzle. The mountains in the background give it that added umph.
With a nearby boardwalk and dining precinct this are has a tone of urban sophistication. The drone's vantage point also showcases the marina's connection to the Coral Sea offering a glimpse of the vast ocean that lies beyond. It’s a scene that really shows the adventurous spirit of Cairns, where every boat holds the promise of a new discovery and experience.
The CBD District
Cairns’ Central Business District (CBD) is a fascinating mix of modernity and tradition and capturing it from above just gives you that view of the intricate layout of this tropical city. The CBD is characterized by its grid like streets and lined with a mix of high rise buildings, heritage architecture and tropical landscaping with the mountains in the background.
From above, you can see the interplay of commercial spaces, cultural landmarks and residential areas, all set against the backdrop of the surrounding mountains and the Coral Sea.
Absolutely loved it and I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
