Surf Coast Fun!

The Surf Coast of Victoria is amazing with its rugged cliffs and endless stretches of golden sand. This weekend was 41 Degrees so we returned to our fav bach! My family and I set off on an Nestled between Anglesea and Bells Beach which is a world known professional surf beach, to continue teaching our kids surfing.

We headed off early this time with the car packed to the brim with bodyboards, snacks, towels, and a lot of sunscreen, you need it in Australia. The drive along the Great Ocean Road was as breath taking as ever as always with the winding coastal views offering a sneak peek of the surf waves.

As we turned off onto Point Addis Road we were all excited as the road goes through bushland before opening up to reveal the expansive beach and the sparkling blue waters of Bass Strait.

Usually the water is freezing but hot consecutive days warms up the temprature to a point it is bearable and refershing unlike northern states where the water is often as hot as the outside temp providing no relief.

Point Addis is known for its natural beauty, with towering limestone cliffs framing the beach and clear, turquoise waters stretching out to the horizon. It’s less crowded than some of the more popular Surf Coast spots but it has seen growth over the years and is typically a clothing optional beach but the nudies have all moved on. This makes it ideal for families looking for a bit of space to spread out. We found a perfect spot to set up our base close enough to the water to hear the waves but far enough to keep our belongings dry.

Teaching them to surf was an exercise in patience and pure joy. We started with the basics: how to lie on the board, find their balance and paddle. They still have a long way to go but it we had fun regardless.

The thrill of catching your first wave always hooks people it's like a big rush.

Then it was onto sand castles, holes and just fun in the sand and surf which is always an exciting time for kids and I get to help them dig holes and hope no one falls into them!

Summer's coming to an end soon but it is still great spending time with the kids. I also get to burn some calories for up and coming comp in March and don't need to waste time on the treadmill.
