Open algorithm to censor vis-a-vis a wholesale open source protocol from the get-go. Which one interests you the most?
The only thing that keeps Twitter and Hive distant is the user base and the celebrityhood of that user base.
But in a just, democratic, and decentralized environment, everyone is an ambassador.
In Twitter, it's true that celebrityhood is so prominent that it naturally drives engagement deeper and it also has become a platform for political discourse over time.
In Hive, things are a little different. Here I believe that celebrityhood is a work in progress. May be in terms of generating wealth and creating a new middle-class Hive is better positioned as compared to Twitter. And it surely postulates a democratic and decentralized economic order. Such a thing is absent in Twitter.
While Elon Musk has already outlined the major reforms, of that the most important one is definitely the open source algorithm, but that will be precisely the open source algorithm to whether censor or not. That will certainly free Twitter-like media from the political clutch in my opinion.
In a just world, freedom of speech should be a privilege for all regardless of whether left, right, socialist, communist, capitalist, nationalist, etc.
Hive offers that from the get-go, even that is tied to its protocol. An adversary at best can downvote you, but you can not be censored here in Hive. Please bear in mind that downvotes may be disapproval but can not be otherwise termed as censorship.
The circulation of elites will be a phenomenon in all platforms, no matter whether it is centralized or decentralized. But we can still welcome the "circulation of elites" when it is underpinned by competence, aptitude, skills, leadership qualities, etc but most importantly how we transform those qualities into building institutions of social expression. There is no dearth of highly skilled, educated derelicts, what matters, in the end, is who is consciously and actively transforming those into institutions of social expression. Hive is that institution, even it has been a part of that revolution when its core values were threatened.
Hive in my opinion has the potential, you might not believe it now, but one day Hive will stand taller as the tallest institution of social expression.
Twitter has achieved something in terms of adoption, which is why it has a brand value, while Hive is creating that brand value on the premise of the decentralized values of blockchain. Hive definitely reflects that continuum.
