Buying Splinterlands Packs and keeping them closed gives out one of the best returns on your investment I have ever seen. Just for reference let's take a look at the price increase on the last two collections.
Beta Packs:
When they were first printed you could buy each pack for $2, nowadays the last one sold went for $92.80. That is a 46x on every closed pack in a little over 2 years.
Untamed Packs:
Untamed packs were selling for $2 on the Splinterlands website until mid-June when they sold out. That was just 8 months ago...
Let's see how much their value increased in such little time. They're now trading for $41.18 (last recorded value), which is a 20.5 multiplier in just 8 months!
These examples of past performance are useful but there are a couple of things that must be taken into consideration. The main one is the fact that Chaos Legion's max supply is 10x the max supply of the previous collection, also the fact that the starting price is now $4 instead of $2 which will further delay the sell-out date.
The number of players in the future will be the main deciding factor for the value of CL packs once they sell out but I have high hopes for the game so I think holding some closed packs will be a terrific investment.
The hardest part is keeping them closed!
