WWDC 2024 was packed with a lot of new features for a lot of Apple’s devices. The Apple Vision Pro is getting a new OS that comes with new features and updates, including many more spatial apps.
Developers have been making new things for the Apple Vision Pro ever since its release at the beginning of the year. And now there are over 2,000 apps created specifically for the Apple Vision Pro.
The core of these updates is to provide users with new ways to connect with their memories, enhance productivity, and power new developer APIs for immersive shared experiences.
Deeper Experiences with Photos
VisionOS 2 is now using more of the Vision Pro’s technology to make photos more life-sized and more realistic.
"Advanced machine learning derives both a left and right eye view from 2D images and creates a spatial photo with natural depth that makes it look stunning on the Vision Pro.
What this means is that users get a more alluring view of their memories in photos when they look at them using Vision Pro. It’s way more than you can get by just looking at the same photos on your mobile phone.

With VisionOS 2, you can now experience panoramas and spatial photos and videos together with the people you love using a new feature coming with the OS called SharePlay in the Photos app.
It’ll be like they are sitting next to you with their avatar right there before your eyes in the Vision Pro headset.

More gestures are coming to the Vision Pro, and they will be smooth and intuitive to use. Users have commended how easy it is to use and navigate on the Vision Pro, and so more are coming.
The view is getting better, wider, and smoother. There'll now be a higher display resolution and size, equivalent to 4K monitors side by side. Content before your eyes will stay sharp wherever you look, thanks to dynamic foveation.
The experience of being in your own cinema, for example, as you fly in a place in Travel mode is getting better with train support coming to Vision Pro, “so you can work privately on long commutes.”
Creating apps and environments is now easier with new frameworks and APIs from Apple coming with VisionOS 2. This will enable them to unlock more exciting features for the headset.
