First a little background, the other day I was with a friend and we decided to play with the PlayStation 5, but we changed our minds, we decided to turn on the PlayStation 3 and download some games that I had bought many years ago.
We started downloading some games and realized how long it took, and we started talking about technological evolution and I found it interesting to share it with more people and get their opinion.
First we start talking about 2G, although I haven't used this technology in my life, I do know how it works and my friend has used it. 2G prioritizes calls, and internet may not work at the same time. We talked about 3G much longer, my first phone had 3G and I still remember what it was like to browse the internet, there was little content compared to what exists today, most of it was simple text with very few images and the main use was very few apps, the most communication. At that time there was hardly any audiovisual content and mainly the content was consumed from home.
Apart from the technological evolution, we talked about how much money a few simple MB cost, but I will comment later.
With the arrival of 4G, everything began to change, much more content was consumed outside the home, browsing speed increased.
Theoretically up to 100MB/s, which only applies in laboratories and controlled environments, in practice these speeds are not reached, with massive adaptation, more and more people consume the Internet every day, and it's not possible for each device to be able to navigate at maximum speed.
When I first heard about 5G in 2015/2016, I didn't think the theoretical speeds they promised were necessary or possible.
Every day that technology advanced, I saw it as more possible but also more necessary, every day many devices that connect to the Internet increase, if we connected all devices to the 4G network right now, it would work to browse the Internet, but if we put all devices simultaneously trying to play in 4K, it would take a long time to load.
Every day mobile phones have better cameras, new content resolution, I remember when the highest quality on YouTube was 480p, later HD, Full HD, Full HD+, 4K and soon 8K came out. Obviously, this takes up much more space, when playing content from any application, when playing it from a server it takes a short time to receive the content, also because with each new technology latency is reduced.
Currently, not all areas of the planet have 4G, and 5G began to be implemented in large cities years ago. In areas with low population density, it's not interesting to invest money, since it's not exactly cheap. 15 years ago I remember paying €10 a week (€40 a month) to have 100 minutes of calls and 100 MB, this is crazy if we had to pay €100 for every GB we consume today.
With 4G, due to the high connectivity capacity and all the content, telephone companies begin to offer many more gigabytes for the same price. In 2018 I remember paying €20 a month for unlimited calls and 10 GB. 1GB = €2
You will be surprised if I tell you that today I pay €20 for unlimited calls and 100GB, and in summer they offer x2 GB. 1GB = €0.2

6G is on the way, now I have more knowledge of technology and I do think it will be necessary in the future.
Because? At the speed that technology advances, the increase in audiovisual content, the image quality, that surely 16K will exist in the future, artificial intelligence is also developing much more (some programmed to learn automatically) and the generational change, in which we can see very young children with the internet in their hands.
The technology is not developed, but theoretically it could reach 1TB/s, a speed that we will not get to use, but if we use the same % that we use of the theoretical speed of 5G (2% - 200MB) it could translate into 2GB/s without any problem.
And how much will it cost the user? Probably with this technology and the great traffic that will exist, the X GB rates will disappear and all telephone companies will offer unlimited data, but the first years it will be very expensive (only for 6G)
This will not be implemented at least until 2030/2035 in my opinion, there is still a long way to deploy 5G to think about the next generation.
And this is what my friend and I were talking about for almost 1 hour while downloading various games. I would like to know your opinion, do you think 6G will be necessary? What do you think of the evolution that we are seeing?

Primero un poco de contexto, el otro día estaba con un amigo y decidimos ponernos a jugar con la PlayStation 5, pero cambiamos de opinión, decidimos encender la PlayStation 3 y descargar algunos juegos que yo había comprado hace muchos años.
Empezamos a descargar algunos juegos y nos dimos cuenta lo mucho que tardaba, actualmente estamos acostumbrados a la velocidad con la que navegamos cada día, y empezamos a hablar sobre la evolución tecnológica y me pareció interesante compartirlo con más personas y conocer su opinión.
Primero empezamos hablando del 2G, aunque yo no he utilizado esta tecnología en mi vida, si se como funciona y mi amigo si ha llegado a usarla. El 2G prioriza las llamadas al internet pudiendo no funcionar ambas al mismo tiempo.
Del 3G hablamos mucho mas tiempo, mi primer movil tenía 3G y aun recuerdo como era navegar por internet, había poco contenido comparado con el que existe hoy, la mayoría era simple texto con muy pocas imágenes y el uso principal eran muy pocas apps, la mayoría de comunicación.
En esa época apenas había contenido audiovisual y principalmente el contenido se consumía desde casa.
Aparte de la evolución tecnológica hablamos de cuanto dinero costaba unos simples MB, pero este apartado lo comentaré mas adelante.
Con la llegada del 4G, todo empezó a cambiar, se consumía mucho mas contenido fuera de casa, la velocidad de navegación aumentó. Teóricamente hasta 100MB/s, cosa que solo aplica en laboratorios y entornos controlados, en la práctica no se alcanzan estas velocidades, con la adaptación masiva cada día mas personas consumen internet, y no es posible que cada dispositivo pueda navegar a la velocidad máxima.
Cuando en 2015/2016 escuché por primera vez sobre la tecnología 5G, no pensaba que fuera necesario ni posible las velocidades teóricas que prometían.
Cada día que avanzaba la tecnología, lo veía mas posible pero también mas necesario, cada día aumentan muchos los dispositivos que se conectan a internet, si ahora mismo conectaramos todos los dispositivos a la red 4G, funcionaría para navegar por internet, pero si ponemos todos los dispositivos simultaneamente a intentar reproducir en 4K, tardaría bastante en cargar.
Cada día los móviles tienen mejores cámaras, nueva resolución en contenido, recuerdo cuando la máxima calidad que había en Youtube era 480p, mas tarde salió el HD, Full HD, Full HD+, 4K y próximamente 8K.
Como es obvio, esto ocupa mucho mas espacio, a la hora de reproducir un contenido desde cualquier aplicación, al reproducirlo desde un servidor tardamos poco tiempo en recibir el contenido, también debido que con cada nueva tecnología se reduce la latencia.
Actualmente no todas las zonas del planeta disponen de 4G, y en las grandes ciudades se empezó a implementar el 5G hace años, en zonas con poca densidad de población no interesa invertir dinero, ya que no es precisamente barato.
Hace 15 años recuerdo pagar 10€ a la semana (40€ al mes) para tener 100 minutos de llamadas y 100 MB de navegación, esto es una locura si tuvieramos que pagar 100€ por cada GB que consumimos hoy.
Con el 4G, debido a la alta capacidad de conectividad y todo el contenido, las telefónicas empezar a ofrecer muchos más gigas por el mismo precio, en 2018 recuerdo estar pagando 20€ al mes por llamadas ilimitadas y 10 GB de navegación. 1GB = 2€
Os vais a sorprender si os digo que hoy pago 20€ por llamadas ilimitadas y 100GB, y en verano ponen ofertas que dublican los GB. 1GB = 0,2€

El 6G está de camino, ahora tengo mas conocimiento de tecnología y si creo que será necesario en un futuro.
¿Por qué? A la velocidad que avanza la tecnología, el aumento de contenido audiovisual, la calidad de imagen, que seguramente en un futuro exista el 16K, la inteligencia artificial también se desarrolla mucho mas (algunas programadas para aprender de manera automática) y el cambio generacional, en el que podemos ver a niños con muy poca edad con internet en sus manos.
La tecnología no está desarrollada, pero teóricamente podría alcanzar 1TB/s, velocidad que no llegaremos a utilizar, pero si usamos el mismo % que usamos de la velocidad teórica del 5G (2% - 200MB) podría traducirse en 2GB/s sin ningún problema.
¿Y cuanto costará al usuario? Probablemente con esta tecnología y el gran tráfico que existirá, desaparecerán las tarifas de X GB y todas las telefónicas ofrecerán datos ilimitados, pero los primeros años será muy cara.
Esto no será implementado mínimo hasta 2030/2035 en mi opinión, aún falta mucho para desplegar el 5G como para pensar en la siguiente generación.
Y de esto es lo que estuvimos hablando mi amigo y yo por casi 1 hora mientras descargabamos varios juegos.
