Pure logical decision

Harry Metcalfe, content maker and car enthousiast made a very interesting post today about his new family car. After driving for 4 years with PHEV en EV cars. He has decided to ditch the plug in hybrid and electric vehicles. He bought a brand new... Range Rover Sport diesel engined car.

He explains his decision very precisely, after 4 years of driving with his hybrid and electric cars he has calculated that he price per kilometer isn't cheaper with electric cars compared with diesel and gasoline cars. At least in Europe that is, where electricity is a lot more expensive than in the USA.

And there are more reasons, first of all the depreciation in value. Electric Vehicles lose value a lot faster than the ones with combustion engines. And there is the aspect that they are extremely expensive to buy in the first place. But in the first few months they lose 35 % of their value, and from then on it goes fast down. And because the electric vehicles are usually very powerfull, the insurance is also a lot more expensive than the insurance for combustion engines.

And last but not least, the batteries are also losing a lot of battery life when they age, and in winter they lose up to 40 % of there capacity.
After considering all of this, Metcalfe found out, that the best buy for him and his family was a Range Rover Sport diesel instead of the electric version. It costs him 25000 less Euros and he has a lot more luxury in it. And no loading stress!

Interesting conclusion, and something I have been saying for a long time, the electric vehicles are too expensive, have a very small range, and there is just too little charging possibilities...

Diesel it is!

Sincerely,
