So I came across a meme about McArthur Wheeler that was so dumb, I just couldn’t ignore it and had to Google it.
The story of his bank robbery is one of the most bizarre—and unintentionally hilarious—examples of how ignorance and overconfidence can go hand in hand. His case is a perfect example of how people with low ability often overestimate their competence.
This guy believed he had cracked the perfect way to rob banks without getting caught. Guess his idea! It’s so "genius," you wouldn’t even think of it: rub lemon juice on his face to become invisible to surveillance cameras. WTF, you ask? Since lemon juice can be used as invisible ink, he assumed it would also hide his face. I mean, bro, that’s some basic first-grader logic and science. This could never work.
With this "invisibility cloak," Wheeler confidently walked into the banks in broad daylight, made no effort to disguise himself, and carried out the robberies. Of course, surveillance cameras captured him perfectly, and it didn’t take long for the police to track him down.
When he was arrested, he was genuinely shocked and reportedly said, “But I wore the juice!” (Yes, this actually happened.)
