After a day of indulging in rich, heavy Christmas foods, there's nothing like a plate of crispy, golden chicken and chips to satisfy your cravings. This classic comfort food is easy to make, requires minimal ingredients, and is sure to please both kids and adults alike.
The Recipe includes the following:
To make our Boxing Day chicken and chips, you'll need:
- 1-2 kg chicken pieces (we like to use a mix of legs, thighs, and wings)
- 2-3 large potatoes, peeled and cut into chunky chips
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Procedure for preparation :
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large bowl, mix together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Toss the chicken pieces in the flour mixture until they're evenly coated.
- Heat the olive oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken pieces until they're golden brown and crispy, then transfer them to a baking tray.
- Bake the chicken in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until it's cooked through.
- While the chicken is baking, prepare the chips. Heat a large pot of oil over medium-high heat, then carefully add the potato chips. Fry the chips until they're golden brown and crispy, then drain them on paper towels.
- Serve the chicken and chips hot, garnished with fresh parsley and a side of your favorite dipping sauce.
