Just another day in the history of crypto acceptance and crypto rejection. Crypto is becoming so mainstreamed that it’s almost impossible not to find a news about crypto in a day. We have the acceptance of crypto as a means of payment in McDonald’s, located in Switzerland which is a great. Just gives crypto more utilities knowing fully well that you can use your crypto to pay for things. Then there is another news from Russia where they blacklisted the crypto exchange website OKX, which is kind of confusing the public, is the country for crypto or against it?

But first, let’s acknowledge the usage of crypto as a means of payment in Switzerland, it’s been a long time I heard such, it’s like crypto utility stopped being the news in 2022 compared to 2021 when it was rampant, although I know for sure that a lot of companies must have accepted crypto as a means of payment but because they are not popular, blogs didn’t notify us. I have a friend who recently relocated to the UK and he has been so excited about the rate at which he can easily buy stuff with crypto. He made me feel like crypto doesn’t have as much exposure in Nigeria, other countries are slowly beginning to accept crypto like its normal. This is the advantage of travelling, you get to experience things outside your environment and comfort zone.
I dream of days, when the government will lose the fight of always trying to crack down crypto and finally accept the fact that crypto is here to stay and there is nothing they can do about it. For now we just have to keep staying at the supporting side of crypto. Speaking of government crypto crack down, let’s talk about the fact that Russia blacklisted the crypto exchange OKX website, this means that it can’t be accessed in Russia. This was done without stating a reason, this is kind of confusing because, one day Russia is supporting crypto, another day it’s acting like it’s not supporting crypto. We all know that crypto is decentralized and it’s on the internet, the government can shutdown the internet in their country if they like, just like every other day, transparency is not in their book.
Since the Russia Ukraine war, I was thinking that the country Russia will frown upon crypto a little bit. Because during that time was the time we saw just how much crypto can get utilized and be used for great course. We saw how people selflessly donated to Ukraine through crypto anonymously without control or so ever, this must have made the Russian government angry, if they were considering banning crypto in the country, thus act must have given them more reason to do so.
