For how much I am obsessed with bored ape NFTs, I find these mistakes extremely expensive. You just don’t lose your NFTs you lose the perks that come with these NFTs. Being a decentralized platform, you just can’t call customer care to cancel the order or retract your NFT back. Lately I have been seeing a lot of NFT mistakes that are very expensive, while some might just be a distracting unintentional mistakes, some might just be a hack.
Most ridiculous things have happened in the NFT world, like the dude that mistakenly listed his NFT for GWEI instead of ETH and ended up selling it for like $0.002 or the person that has fat fingers and mistakenly placed the decimal point in the wrong place. For instance, he was supposed to list an NFT for 84.6 ETH but listed it for 0.846 ETH. Wow!! What a mistake, We still saw a dude list an NFT for 4.444 ETH which was supposed to be listed for 4,444 ETH. A mistake of punctuation, the floor price for that NFT was $850,000, and it was sold for $19,000 at that time, it’s a crypto punk by the way.
Back to the latest Bored Ape NFT selling mistake, so this buyer tried buying a bored ape NFT with DAI a stable coin, this is probably their own way of tricking sellers into buying these NFTs for a low price. DAI is an Ethereum based stable coin, I am no open sea expert or how the NFT market place fully works, but it seems like you can accept DAI as payment probably because it’s Ethereum based. This buyer placed 115 DAI that worths $115, it’s possible that the seller thought that 115 DAI was 115 ETH($379,000) and accepted that. Could it be that he was hacked?
Mere looking at this mistake I feel so much pain for the seller, because just a week ago, bored ape NFT holders got an APE token airdrop. They got over 10k Ape token worth over $130,000, that’s for having a bored ape, lots of perks come with owning a bored ape, wanting to sell your bored ape NFT is supposed to be a painful decision and if you are going to sell it, it must be sold for a price that is extremely worth it. Now selling for a price that is not up to 1% the price of its value has to be one of the most painful experience to have in this world.
Apparently this seller has been getting DAI orders with different accounts and also sold his mutant Ape NFT for 25 DAI to the same buyer. This happened the same time with a 1 hour difference, this shows that it’s possible that this unfortunate sellers account was hacked. The seller has lost over $400,000 worth of NFTs in just a day. This quite sad, I hope the seller is okay, because that’s a lot to lose in one day.
