I currently pay £180 a month for a hot desk at my new co working space - that's 24/7 access, and if I turn up before 8.45 I'm practically guaranteed to get one of the nicer desks - and there's always something available any time of the day, every day of the week.
In addition to the use of desk space, there's a nice communal kitchen with free coffee, typically a daily munch of some kind of sweet snack and even breakfast, although that is only sugary cereal, but it's on offer nonetheless!
Between heating and free coffee I make most of my money back!
I'm a bit out of the loop when it comes to gas and electricity costs as I haven't been paying for 2.5 years, before the COL crisis, but I figure my average energy bill is going to come in at around £1800 a year, or £150 a month.
Being at the co-work space for half the day, five days a week enables me to not heat the house for all that time which I figure gives me a saving of around £60 a month, on average, and some electricity savings too, although they are marginal!
Believe it or not it's the free coffee that saves me more: that coffee really does stop me getting a daily take out, at a cost of £3.50.
And £3.50 times 20 days of the month = £70 a month.
So in total we're at a saving already of £130.
Then take off 20% for tax...
I can also take off a further £35 for tax as I can claim this against my expensive bringing me up to £165 saved!
OK maybe a bit of a 'fake' saving, but, quite literally, I am claiming it!
So that's a co-working space for around £15 a month
£15 is a bargain TBH, as it gets me out of the house and working in some company rather than just being isolated on my own all day, and my general experience is that co-working spaces are chock-full of friendly and interesting people in similar situations!
This new space is particularly nice, very clean, light, airy, pretty generous freebies, so it's a case of happy, happy, days!
