Just a few days after a robbery of Nomad's crypto bridge, Solana was the latest victim of hackers early on Wednesday.
The business said on Twitter that 7,767 wallets were impacted by the attack, although its sources are still unknown. Engineers are trying to determine what caused the crime, which according to Bloomberg resulted in the theft of digital assets worth $5.2 million, Solana added.
The latest cryptocurrency company to have a break-in is Solana. The ninth-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization, Solana's native token, was down slightly more over 1% at press time after plummeting as much as 7% earlier in the day.
Since the beginning of 2022, when it was trading at about $175, the token's performance has been appalling. The cryptocurrency has experienced a year-to-date decline of 77% amid the wider decline in digital assets.
The price of bitcoin on Wednesday increased little to $23,320.
In 2022, cryptocurrency breaches have grown commonplace, bringing to light ongoing security problems in the industry. Hackers stole roughly $200 million from Nomad, a cryptocurrency bridge that enables users to transfer tokens across several blockchains, on Monday. One billion dollars' worth of cryptocurrency assets have been taken from crypto bridges so far this year.
