Have you heard the news about Instagram now officially an NFT market?
I don't know what to think, there seems to be a rush to enter the world of non-fungible tokens even by those not involved in the crypto world.
I understand that companies don't want to be cut out of this tempting slice of the market but I wonder what percentage of Instagram users will really be interested in buying and selling NFTs?
Certainly it will attract crypronauts from any other platform probably and perhaps bring users who are unaware of this sector closer to NFTs.
Perhaps my doubts are related to the fact that Instagram is a Meta company for which I have little sympathy.
However, early rumours speak of zero fees for creators and collectors when a purchase is made, at least for the beginning, as Meta spokesperson Christine Pai points out, although this may change over time.
At the moment, the new Instagram features are only accessible to a select group of creators, such as Amber Vittoria, Olive Allen, Eric Rubens, Jason Seife, Sara Baumann, IIse Valfre, Refik Anadol, Vinnie Hager, Dave Krugman and Isaac 'Drift' Wright.
But many more names will soon be added.
We will just have to see the evolution of this project, which certainly has great potential given the group it is part of and the users who use the platform every day.
What do you think? Is it a project that appeals to you?
Thank you for stopping by.
