Today, I stumbled upon my father’s collection of Indian currency notes and coins from the years 1962, 1967, 1968, 1981, 1983, 1991. These relics from the past have managed to survive the test of time, and their stories are begging to be told.
So, I would like to draw your attention towards these artifacts, made of aluminium, dating back to the time when Manmohan Singh was the governor, holding a special allure. On 2 paise, 3 paise, 10 paise, 20 paise, 25 paise, and 1 rupee, one side, it depicted a lion, the national animal of India, while the other side displayed the face value and the year of minting.
The next item that caught my attention was a one rupee note, issued during the 1980s, a period of significant economic growth in India. As I inspected the note closely, I noticed intricate engravings, bearing the signature of M. Narasimham, then Secretary, Ministry of Finance in India. The note bore the emblem of the Reserve Bank of India, signifying its authenticity. These 2 rupee, 5 rupee, 10 rupee notes were a tangible representation of the economic and political landscape during the governorship of I.G. Patel and Manmohan Singh.
As I carefully observed these treasures, i realized the importance of preserving our history and passing it on to future generations, ensuring that the stories embedded within these artifacts continue to be cherished.
