1898 Mexico Un Peso Coin
The 1898 Un Peso is the first release in its series. This Un Peso is a large Crown-sized coin. The composition of the coin is .9027 Silver and .0973 copper.
Reverse: Radiant cap with LIBERTAD inscription. At bottom half circle lettering with Value, Mint, Date, Assayer's initials, and Fineness. The lettering in is Latin "UN PESO.Cn.1898.A.M.902,7".
Obverse: National arms of Mexico (facing eagle, snake in beak). The lettering is in Latin REPUBLICA MEXICANA, which is translated in English as MEXICAN REPUBLIC
The edge is reeded.
The Un Peso coin was minted by Casa de Moneda de Culiacán, Mexico.
After the 1905 Monetary Reform, only Mexico City's satellite mints continued to operate.
