The East India Company issued each 2022 1 oz British Trade Dollar Coin under the jurisdiction of St. Helena. Saint Helena is located in the South Atlantic Ocean and is an overseas territory of Great Britain.

2022 1 oz British Trade Dollar Silver Coin (BU)

Britannia, the personification of Britain, is depicted on the reverse field of the 2022 1 oz Trade Dollar Silver Coin. It is featured in close-up wearing a helmet with the British flag printed over it. There is also a trident and a globe pattern with a map of the United Kingdom the background. Inscriptions include Trade Dollar and EIC, which stands for East India Company.

Coin Highlights:
Limited mintage of only 5,000 silver coins.
Contains 1 Troy oz of .999 pure silver.
The face value of 1 Pound is fully backed by the Issuing Authority of St. Helena.
Queen Elizabeth II is depicted on the obverse.
Britannia features in the reverse design.

A bust of Queen Elizabeth II appears on the obverse of 2022 British Trade Dollar Silver Coins. Jody Clark created this famous portrait for the Royal Mint in 2015. In most parts of the world, it is regarded as the sixth official portrait of Elizabeth II used for coinage. The inscriptions say Queen Elizabeth II, One Pound, 2022.

The first British Trade Dollar was developed in 1895 by George William De Saulles. It was designed to improve trade between Britain, Hong Kong, and the Straits Settlements. Upon the introduction of the Straits Dollar, the Trade Dollars were primarily utilized for Hong Kong trade until 1935. The original coins are now difficult to find, due in part to China's 1934 ban on silver ownership. As a result, many of the coins were melted down for various purposes.
