Nine years ago, I moved away from the SF Bay Area to Sacramento, some 100 miles away from my first home. As I was separated in distance from my long-time friends who have been family since college, general celebrations followed me, to my delight! I think it is safe to say that my home, being so far away from The City, is considered by my sorority sisters as their "home away from home."
I decided to serve ham, the traditional turkey, roasted pork belly, and a variety of sides. In the middle of cooking, I had to baste the ham and the pork. I took photos, lest I forget!
This is the first time for the pineapples to hangin the tree, and so is a tiny California mug.
Have you done your Christmas list? Once my Christmas spending limit has been determined, I make a list of everyone I wish to buy gifts for. Consider your spending limit for each item rather than focusing on what you wish to purchase. There are times when the list is longer than what I can afford, so I go back and remove any names or cost amounts. Reducing the number of individuals on my shopping list is one of the easiest ways to cut costs.
When buying something for someone else, have you ever regretted not keeping it for yourself? That is the reason why I include my name in the list! Getting a little luxury for yourself is the best way to deal with that, especially if it's on sale.
One way to avoid Christmas debt is to pay for everything with cash. Take that money out of the bank once you've decided on your holiday spending plan, and then stick to it. When that money is gone, your shopping is complete. Naturally, making online transactions with cash is not an option. In that case, use a prepaid card.
