The web3 gaming space is a very competitive area where developers are quick to adapt to popular and innovative ideas. There are tons of card battlers, farming simulators, and mining games, among other genres. And one that has recently been gaining popularity is the quest-based games like Ducky City and Pixels. The mechanics around these games revolve around having a character traversing the environment while completing various tasks like scavenging for items, delivering packages, crafting, etc.
What sets Pixelverse apart from the more popular game called Pixels is that it is set in a cyberpunk world. While trying out the demo of the game, I was drawn to the overall style of the characters and environment.
You can test it out for free and they have a play-to-airdrop giveaway where players can get a chance to receive tokens by simply playing the game and earning points.
You can only do one quest every 24 hours. You're supposed to get a special reward for completing a week's worth of quests. But since I'm still new to the game, I can't verify for sure what is the reward.
Another way to earn points is by raising pets. This can be found in the dashboard of the website and not inside the demo play. You will initially start with one pet but you can have an additional two later on. You get points by petting them each day and levelling them up. According to the whitepaper, you can craft your own bots later on and have them fight in competitions.
There's also this new trend of play-to-airdrop apps on Telegram where players can earn points by continuously tapping the screen. Pixelverse also has this feature with their bot models. By far, this is the most time-consuming part out of the three. You'd have to have a dedicated phone on the ready if you'd want to seriously farm the Telegram app.
Conclusion
Overall, Pixelverse is a good game concept with potential to grow on popularity. For now, I am not planning to participate in any NFT or token presale. I'm sticking with the free play-to-airdrop first and do more research into the project and its developers.
If you like to try out this game, I'd appreciate it if you'd use my referral link. Thank you.
