I joined the Hive community over a year ago, and from the very beginning, I fell in love with this amazing platform. I started creating posts and writing blogs about different subjects, but I have always had difficulty writing and creating content. I get anxious and become extremely nervous while trying to be productive. At first, I didn't notice it much and therefore didn't care about it, until it started getting worse and worse every day. Eventually, it blocked my creativity completely, to the extent that I was unable to write a single sentence. So I started looking for what was causing this problem, and I came up with three explanations: 1. Perfectionism 2. Fear of Failure 3. Fear of Rejection
Let's take a look at each of these problems to better understand the situation:
1.Perfectionism
Perfectionism is the drive to appear, feel, and be perfect. Although society generally views perfectionism as a positive attribute, it also can have negative effects. A perfectionist has "excessively high personal standards and overly critical self-evaluations." Perfectionists set unrealistically high expectations for themselves. When taken too far, striving for perfection can lead to negative outcomes, like procrastination, a tendency to avoid challenges, rigid all-or-nothing thinking, toxic comparisons, and a lack of creativity.
2.Fear of Failure
Have you ever been so afraid of failing at something that you decided not to try at all? Fear of Failure may cause you to put off or avoid any activity or scenario that has the potential for an unsuccessful outcome. Many of us have probably experienced this at one time or another. The fear of failing can be immobilizing – it can cause us to do nothing, and therefore resist moving forward. But when we allow fear to stop our forward progress in life, we're likely to miss some great opportunities along the way.
3.Fear of Rejection
People who have a fear of rejection are afraid of not being liked, being abandoned, or not fitting in. People who fear rejection may struggle with low self-esteem, lack of confidence, shame, or guilt, and spend a lot of time and energy worrying about what others think of them. we may be afraid that rejection confirms that we have little worth or value. Fear of rejection can stifle creativity. Someone with this fear may hesitate to try something new or explore a creative pursuit. Those who are creative may hesitate to share their work with anyone, or ask for the help they need to master their skills. This fear can keep people stuck and stop them from sharing their creativity and talent.
These are some of the main issues that can lead to a creative block. The first step to overcoming these difficulties is to become fully aware of them. We also need to know what is causing these problems and how we can overcome them. I'll explain more about them in a later post. For now, I need to know your opinions and experiences. Have you ever faced any of these problems? How do you try to deal with them? Do you think there is any other reason for a creative block? Please write your answers in the comments.
