Goal for 2023: Get "What is Hive" Ranked On Google

in #hive-1679222 years ago

We encountered this on a couple of different occasions.

What is Hive?

This is something that provides a great deal of confusion especially within cryptocurrency. To start, if many search for Hive and blockchain, they come up with Hive Blockchain Ltd, the Bitcoin mining company. This is something we confronted from the earliest days.

Of late, we had Hive social take off, especially on Twitter. This was a short lived network that doesn't appear to have much traction.

Nevertheless, it does provide for a great deal of confusion.

Hence, we have to take steps to ensure we emerge as the go to location for Hive. This is going to be difficult since we have a lot of competition from the search engines.

As we all know, organic traffic is vital. However, even if that is not completely possible, we can get enough links going to help push people in our direction.

This is my goal for 2023.

What is Hive

What is Hive is going to be a living, breathing page. At present, it is almost 2,700 words. This will be updated on a weekly basis, with more information added. This will not only help to keep things current but also refresh the content in the eyes of Google. It also helps with the goal of serving as a repository for Hive information.

When people ask what Hive is, here is the answer.

Since it will be constantly updated, we can see it expanding over time. The key will be to distribute in as many places as possible. Most of us are aware how important it is to get webpages spread around.

Of course, as stated, the goal is to get this ranked within Google. Even if we do not like that company, it still dominates search. Therefore, it has the ability to drive a lot of traffic to this ecosystem.

When we do a search for "What is Hive", this is what we come up with.

what is hive.png

Here is where our major challenge comes in. Apache hive is a data warehouse system. As we scroll lower, we find more aligned with this.

what is hive.png

What this means is that it is ranking within all the tech sites along with having some mainstream entities writing about it. As we cansee, IBM is one of the first results.

As they say, nothing like a challenge.

How Many Times A Day Do We Write "Hive"?

These other sites might have clout but we have numbers.

Here is an interesting thought exercise: how many times a day do we write the term "Hive"? Consider all the posts and comments that are made, how many of them have that word in it?

If we take things from that perspective, we can see how it gets into the thousands daily. Over time, that adds up into a much larger number.

We also have another advantage: there are reams of evergreen content tied to this blockchain. Our data goes back more than 6 years. We have posts from 2016 that are still open to comments. For those who were around, it is something that can even be edited.

This is where the power of numbers enter the picture.

Personally, each article I write is now going to have the What is Hive link at the bottom. That means everyday, we are adding to the pile. Since much of what is written pertains to Hive, cryptocurrency, or blockchain, it is relevant content.

From this perspective, we can see how we can accumulate tens of thousands of backlinks to this page. That is good since it is going to require that for us to get noticed.

Then we also have traditional social media. For those who also write on Substack, this is an ideal place to add in the links. External links obviously carry a great deal more weight. All of this feeds into the same system.

Hive Has A Lot Going On

As we close out the year, we can see how there is a lot going on with Hive. This is something that is too our advantage.

By highlighting this in a central repository along with focusing upon driving traffic, perhaps we can get people to take notice. The applications will certainly have to aid in this endeavor by promoting what they are doing. Nevertheless, there are still a lot of questions pertaining to this entire industry, let alone Hive.

What is Hive is something we should be willing to post anywhere. The more people see it, the better. Ultimately, we want the ecosystem to go viral since we are dealing with the Internet. The key to Hive's future is kicking off the network effect that takes things to a much higher level.

To get to that point, unfortunately, it takes a lot of grunt work. This is made easier with numbers spreading the news. As more people engage in this, it can snowball.

Imagine what things will be like a year from now if we open up Google, enter what is Hive, and the first search result is from a Hive related application.

That is the place we want to be and is the goal for 2023.

To achieve this, it will take the effort of many. However, anyone with stake in their wallet has incentive to make this a reality.

After all, we write the term "Hive" many thousands of times each day on the blockchain. It is time to use that to our advantage.

It's great to see the effort being put into making Hive more visible and accessible to people searching for information on the topic. It's clear that there is a lot of competition in the search engine rankings, but by regularly updating and promoting the "What is Hive" page, we can increase its chances of ranking higher. It will be interesting to see how the efforts to improve the page's ranking on Google progress over the next year. I am definitely jumping in to contribute to these efforts. I have raised this issue before, and I am happy it is coming up again.

You put the question What is Hive on my post, not aware of the initiative behind the question I responded what Hive represents to me personally. Good that you created an article behind it.
Let's keep throwing all our punches out, collectively we are going to get results one way or the other.

It is more of the link. I want to see if we can get "What is Hive" ranking on Google.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Why we don't consider all these points about SEO When hive blockchain name decided back in 2020 before the lounch and split from steem

Even LeoFinance team also make same mistake when they decided the project name leofinance, it's also common name not unique especially words Leo and finance even their username already taken on Twitter

Now we have another solution at least for any upcoming project or dapps we should choose a unique name which should stand out when someone searches about it on Google

Anyway

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I asked myself this too. Usually when you create a new project you do an accurate search on the name of the project so as not to have problems searching the internet. But it is also true that I do not know the history of the creation of Hive

We're stuck with this name, so we should try to get searches for 'Hive' to return links to this platform. Having it spread over multiple domains does not make it easier. Decentralisation can be a disadvantage sometimes, but we'll work with what we have.

Very true. We have to do a lot more work because of the multiple domains and the penalty the search engines have.

Okay. I will get that added to my footer for my posts.

What is Hive.

Got it correct?

That is the correct link. Thanks @bradleyarrow.

@taskmaster4450le! Your Content Is Awesome so I just sent 1 $BBH (Bitcoin Backed Hive) to your account on behalf of @bradleyarrow. (21/50)

Awesome! Just added the link to my recent posts.

I am doing the same.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Good timing. I just added it to my post on Hive. It was linked a few times in the text but I added the phrase at the bottom. We'll just keep pecking away.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is all we can do. I am going back through my older posts and linking them.

What is Hive, being ranked on Google will make the Blockchain grow and exposed. A goal, though not easy but with the support and cooperation of everyone who loves Hive, it is possible for the goal to be achieved.

In fact, this is getting more fun on the Blockchain and I wouldn't agree less that Hive is going higher.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I would think so.

But we will have to keep pushing it.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Maybe an image revamp is needed? Would it help if we referred to Hive as Hive Blog more often to avoid confusion?

Hive is more than just blogging. It is actually evolving into something much bigger than that.

Hive already has a large ecosystem, but it's still not spreading as it should. I believe that many are still not ready with some complications that have to be faced in web 3.0, such as the management of the 5 HIVE passwords. Perhaps years must pass before the masses abandon social web 2.0

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Not sure what this has to do with the content in the article.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I believe that browser searches for the word HIVE still do not address the HIVE ecosystem because there are still not many people looking for it on the internet. When there are many of us, the search algorithm will understand that most of the time a user writes "HIVE" he intends to view the HIVE ecosystem. But for this it takes time and people need to start abandoning social web 2.0 and this will happen very slowly. In the meantime, I too will start putting the link "What is Hive" in the posts, I think it's a great idea.

Great works has to be done underground to attain ultimate SEO for HIVE. Also, as we're moving away from web 2.0, HIVE will undoubtedly become a vert popular community in the near future. Its just a matter of time. You've done great analysis and I love that.

Yes we are taking the "trudging" approach. A lot of this is grunt work but that is how it will be.

With the numbers we can start to have a major impact.

Time will tell.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That's a great goal, I personally wasn't able to rank for "what is hive" but icoverage did well for "what is hive blog", top 5 most of the time. Anyways, here's something I think might help: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/seo-search-simulator-by-n/edfjfgjklednkencfhnokmkajbgfhpon?hl=en

It's an extension that you can use to monitor your search positions for whatever query, just type in the query and the website you wish to track and if it is found in the top 100, it will be indicated.

Thanks for the link. I will look into it.

An initiative of getting high ranking on Google for "What is Hive" and associated search queries is a good thing.

From the point of SEO, the page's title and h1 tags shouldn't include unnecessary words. The current h1 of the page is "LeoGlossary: What Is Hive", the title tag is "LeoGlossary: What Is Hive" but it should be "What Is Hive" / "What Is Hive" for better ranking on Google.

Expecting bigger and greater achievements on the hive blockchain this new year. Thanks for all the given support. Happy new year @taskmaster4450

The problem is Apache Hive is one of the leading Data WareHouse system and because of that it's quite tough to rank with just Hive, but I guess doable.

I tapped into this goal and started adding what is hive into my contents.

Since we have the number, if we work together on this it is achievable.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

After doing this enough they won't be able to ignore Hive. I'll be linking my posts as well.

I am going to start doing this going forward. Yes, we do need to make it appear on the top on Google and other search engines.
Wish you a wonderful New Year ❤️

Started to work on it also. I am linking hive on all my other platforms (publish0x, readcash, medium) too.

Another important thing is that if we search for Hive on Google and not click on anything until you see a link from our Hive....search engines always watch to see the most clicked result based on the term searched. So if you search for Hive on millions of computers and click on the related link, Google recognizes that people searching for "Hive" are looking for what we want them to find.

This is fantastic. Thanks for the work done behind the scenes.

I like this goal, I like this goal a lot

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Shared the link both on Twitter and Facebook.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is a great initiative and proof of what the community does for an ecosystem - breathing life by promoting it. Could be a great idea for others (including me) to find a Hive niche or subject of interest and promote it to be ranked better by Google. With such exposure, we cannot be ignored anymore!

It is a step to improving the reach of the ecosystem. There is the page written, something I will keep updating throughout the year to keep it fresh.

I already committed to creating 20 links a day, which is 7,300 for the year. That means others can really help explode the numbers.

We write Hive hudnreds of times each day on here.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

This is will be so awesome. One thing that can encourage Search engine optimization on Hive is if we can check our post views and impressions. I have been seeing this on medium for a while. I don't know how they boosted their domain presence but it is very profound and works.

This is a very eye opening article @taskmaster4450
Thanks for your insite on "What is Hive"

What is Hive! I've also done a post with the title, hopefully, the continued use of the Hive keyword helps drag these posts up the search ranks. Unfortunately, google is sometimes a little too...uncooperative with crypto and blockchain. Good luck with your mission! Hopefully, some more light will be shone on Hive!

I'd had similar ideas about a "What is Hive" long post about everything that is Hive, maybe I could help you somewhere along the line! Feel free to drop me a line!

I'll push the same route using Presearch! I already have a few "Keyword" stakes there to help get some eyes on Hive! Let's make 2023 the year peoples stop asking "What is Hive" and start asking "Why did it take me this long to discover Hive"!

Yes the search engines, especially google are unfriendly. We can only keep pushing, putting ourselves everywhere we can.

If you have some ideas hit me up on discord. Always looking for more help with the project.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

By the way, drop the link to your article here and I will add it to the page I am creating. Get it some cross pollination.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I may have done one with that titles, but it hides in my drafts for now, every time I add more to it I think of even more to add and the system repeats!

I'd nudge towards this one, where I done some cross pollinations, there's already so much of the awesome content on Hive that's needed for these type of posts, it's just a matter of putting it all together.

Won't be long until AI is able to pull all the data for us and put it into a neat little post! Utilising AI for rebuilding the likes of Wikipedia seems like a legit use of it on hive!

That is a good thing to consider and I find myself using Hive a lot. So I will try to push that into my posts as well.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

'what is hive' is super tough because it's such a broad term.

Add the fact we are already competing with HIVE Blockchain Technologies Ltd who have a billion links coming from Bloomberg et al and we can pretty much give up on that one.

Put your energy into ranking higher for lower volume, long tail keywords.

Hive related keywords

Also, just remember that Google doesn't differentiate between our different Hive accounts publishing.

All Google sees and cares about is a leofinance.io page.

And they only want to rank 1 page for each term.

At the moment we have this Hive guide which ranks on page 1 for what is hive crypto and somewhere on page 5 for what is hive blockchain.

So my other piece of advice would be to not cannibalise our existing rankings and instead focus on filling voids where we (leofinance.io) have no content ranked.

PS. Also tell Khal to fix SimpleAnalytics so us plebs without access to his Google account can see some referral stats.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

From this perspective, we can see how we can accumulate tens of thousands of backlinks to this page. That is good since it is going to require that for us to get noticed.

When we talk about 'backlinks' in SEO, it means someone on a different domain, linking back to your domain.

The better the domain you receive the backlink from, the more likely it will move you up in search rankings.

So when people talk about link building in SEO, they're talking about getting links from other domains that link back to them.

Get a single link on an article from Bloomberg talking about Web3 and it will be VERYYYY valuable.

Get 10,000 links on duplicated Publish0x blogs, all mixed in with other links to random pages nothing to do with Hive and it will be VERYYYYY detrimental.

Backlinks are different to what you're building here on leofinance.io.

You're linking to articles on the same domain and therefore building a network of what's called 'internal links'.

Think about internal links as a way to help the Google crawler index your content.

But once indexed, they aren't really going to move you up the rankings.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

That is true. I meant internal links. Thanks for the correction.
