VeniceAI: Privacy Focused AI By Shapeshift Founder

Chatbots are making a lot of noise.

We see the wars that are taking place. There is Gemini. Claude. ChatGPT. Grok. Llama.

All of these have one thing in common. They are either developed or backed by Big Tech. This means we are feeding even more power to the likes of Microsoft, Elon Musk, Amazon, Google, and Meta. As this technology gets more powerful, this is not exactly a path we want to take.

While chatbots are in their early stages, most are dealing with some basic use cases. Those who utilize chatbots tend to do a few prompts per day.

VeniceAI: Privacy Focused chatbot

Do you remember the name Eric Voorhees? He is the founder of Shapeshift and long time crypto advocate. In May be brought out a chatbot that focuses upon privacy. This is in stark contrasts to the likes of OpenAi.

Like most, there are different levels of activity. One can opt to have no account, set up a free one, or have a purchase.

Here we can see what each provides.

The company made some news with this announcement:

Venice AI, the decentralized generative AI model from ShapeShift founder Erik Voorhees, has taken a major leap forward, announcing on Thursday that its service is now connected to the web for real-time responses.

It does so by using Brave's API for its search results, giving it real time data. This is a big step from Llama3, which is dated.

The company also asserts they do not censor the data.

We also see an obvious choice for the selection of Brave on this one, especially if privacy is the primary focus.

Decentralization of AI

The challenge with the entire realm of AI is we are literally dealing with "the rich get richer" scenario.

Since we have with massive amounts of compute along with the need for reams of data, this tends to favor the larger entities. Of course, this can be alleviated somewhat as more data is available on public networks such as some blockchains.

What VeniceAI is doing is trying to pull a few users from Mega Tech. This is a worthy step forward. Each prompt that is not in the hands of Google or Amazon is a step in the right direction.

Will this chatbot take them down? Not likely. It does, however, provide an option for the general user.

One key feature is that it offers both text and image prompts. Here is what happens when you start a new chat.

This might not be comparable with some of the best chatbots on the market. That said, for the average person, is the latest and greatest required? The fact this supposedly provides up to date information is a step ahead.

Here is an image I generated using the software.

With my limited use, this is similar to what the likes of Ideogram produces.

Chatbots Will Be Ubiquitous

I personally believe that LLMs are not where the money is at. These are going to be commodities and chatbots will become ubiquitous in the future. The cost to train these is going to plummet over time. We are also seeing the cost per token dropping a great deal. These now include token parameters vastly higher than before.

There was a time when having a website was a big deal. Today, even the most basic of businesses have one.

With chatbots, they are going to be integrated into everything. In a few years, each site will have some type of tie to one. This will offer more enhanced experiences for the users.

As for now, if your needs are basic, this might be a viable option for at least some of your prompts.

Haha why must I see Elon musk in this topic, is the guy that into anything that can make him money guess he is a business n
Man indeed

I think the use of real time data will be huge for them. Most of the free versions of the big chatbots right now have old data. They need to take advantage of this if they want to grow their popularity and user base.

At some point, in my view, they will be incorporated into most applications. That means traditional search is going to come under pressure.

We will also see the advancement of capabilities on applications. Having apps like this roll out is helpful. Privacy and data ownership are going to become even bigger issues going forward.

Hello, I find it interesting, I tried to access the link and entered without problems, but after a few seconds the page is down, it shows me an error and I must reload the home page, it does not let me make the free account, I tried with VPN but it does the same thing. What could be happening? Regards

I dont know. Works fine for me. I use brave browser on desktop and the no account.

Made like half a dozen images and done a few text prompts.

Ok thanks, I'll see what could be happening, I'll try it from the PC, Regards

Yeah it might not be compatible with mobile. I havent read through the documentation.

This is a good initiative brother. It’s refreshing to see a privacy-focused AI emerge like that. The big Tech people seek dominance always this is great alternative
