Hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of the month and also Halloween! Time flies when you're having fun I suppose, but I find it does even when you're not. I have already stocked up on candy to give out to the trick-or-treaters tomorrow night. It's important to do so early because the last couple day before the holiday all of the good candy is long gone and you end up giving out candy that kids don't really like or want. My problem year over year is I over buy and I'm stuck with extra candy around the house. So much for the diet!
Being Wednesday it means it's time to jump into another of my InLeo premium service reviews which I have been doing for several months now. For those of you unfamiliar with the program it's a paid service where you pay either 10 HBD for one month or 100 HBD for one year of the service. In return you are provided with some benefits as one would expect if you invest money into InLeo. Some of the most beneficial are the longer treads and the ability to edit them, and even delete them when necessary. I use those relatively often because of grammatical or spelling errors made when I'm in a hurry. You can see the other benefits below in the screenshot of my premium membership countdown.
The feature that they don't advertise is that premium members should receive priority curations on their posts created on the InLeo front end. As a subscriber your post will potentially be considered for curation before those of individuals that use the free version to post. Having the possibility of receiving priority curation is indeed a nice incentive to participate in the program.
Let's jump into this month's numbers...
In this membership period I am thirty days in, and to date I have created twenty-six posts. From the curation standpoint from @leo.voter I have seen six curations so far, however two of them were stake based curations so I don't count those as they aren't organic curations from InLeo. That leaves me with four curation during this InLeo premium period so far for a total of $22.34. Then removing the 55% that goes back to InLeo (half plus five percent set automatically in beneficiaries) that leaves me with $10.05. Subtracting that sum from my initial investment of 10 HBD I am $0.05 in the black for this period. This membership has been extremely odd, on almost all others I have by now nearly doubled my investment. There is one day left on my membership and I may receive curation on this post, but I am unlikely to eclipse my past experiences.
I am going to be completely honest now, is it worth paying $10 to make $0.05? No, it's not. If this post gets curated I might make $2.75 (being generous) on the month. That's much less than I have received in memberships over the last eight months. I am at a crossroads. I'm not sure if I renew if I'll get a better result next time around or if this is the new normal. The decision is still up in the air! Any thoughts or opinions are welcome!
These posts tend to run a little on the short side so I often attach something interesting at the end. Today is not an exception. Today I thought I might share another Silver Strike token that comes from Sierra Sid's in Sparks, Nevada. I have never been to Sparks in my best recollection (nor do I know where it is) and this token does violate my rule to purchase tokens from defunct casinos, but it's in great shape and features an American literary legend, Mark Twain. This one I picked up on eBay some years ago.
Silver Strike tokens can be won be playing the Silver Strike slot machines at various casinos around the world. They used to be ubiquitous, but now they are extremely hard to find. On occasion these machines pay out commemorative tokens some of which are solid silver, which is why I collect them. Silver prices are on the rise and are likely to do so for the foreseeable future making it a very smart commodity to invest in. I don't see these as a commodity though, they are collectibles I will likely never sell.
About the token:
The reason I like this token so much is because it features Mark Twain. He of one the most well known authors in US history and it's in great shape. The fact that is contains about 0.65 Troy ounces of silver is just a bonus for me!
Mark Twain
Born Samuel Clemens in 1835 he used the pen name of Mark Twain throughout his long career in literature. His materials were often very funny an almost always very entertaining to read even more than one hundred years later. I haven't read one of his books since high school to be honest, but he created characters that I remember well even to this day.
Two of his best known novels are "Huckleberry Finn" and "Tom Sawyer" who were both young men growing up along the banks of the Mississippi River. Incidentally that was the exact location the Twain had grown up and spent his younger years. Many of his works are American literary classics that are required reading for most students in high school, and least they were when I was younger. Schools have changed a lot since then so only God knows what garbage they teach there these days....
At any rate, if you are interesting I included his Wikipedia page in my references so you can learn more about him. He led a very adventurous life!
That will wrap up the post for the day. I hope you enjoyed the silver token and the brief bio about Mark Twain. If you have any questions or comments please feel free to leave them below. Thank you everyone for all of your support, it really is truly appreciated. Hive is a great place to share and make new friends from around the world or even in your own backyard! Have a great day everyone!
