I just received a really nice gift from a friend for the new year's eve.
He knows I love stacking silver. And he knows that animal themed coins are my favorite.
So he got me something that kills two birds with one stone πͺ¨
Usually I do more photos but I am currently on a trip enjoying myself so I won't bother much this time π
As you can see, the obverse features an owl, symbol of wisdom for the Greeks and the pet animal of Greek goddess Athena. I believe this one is sitting on an olive branch, which among other things is associated with the customs of ancient Greece and connected with supplication to divine beings and persons in power.
This side reads

Ok, let's flip it
So here we have a cornucopia within 12 stars.
The stars symbolize the country members of the EU back in 1993 when the coin was minted.
As for the cornupia, it's a symbol of abundance and nourishment. In this case, a reference to how awesome the EU is blah blah blah. Meh.
We also have the denomination (10 ecu) and minting date (1993) here. If you haven't heard of the eco it was short of the predecessor of the EURO.
Not technically a currency but more of an electronic unit of account. Wikipedia has more info if you'd like to read more on the boring technicalities.
There's also some more text here
Ξ ΞΣ΀ΞΞ‘ΞΞΞ ΞΞΞΞΞ£ ΞΞΞ Ξ ΞΞΞ ΞΞ₯ΑΩΠΞ

THE HISTORIC HELLAS AND THE NEW EUROPE
Ok, I think I have covered all the symbolisms and shit :D
After doing some digging, I found this is 10 g of 0.999 purity. There's also a bigger version of the token at 25 g. Exactly the same, just biggest!
And this pretty much concludes my first silver of 2025! And I fucking love it π₯°
