This is something fun I got today!
There was this fella on local Facebook ads selling his collection of minerals and stones and shit for 2$ a pop.
Nothing special, regular stuff like amethyst, pyrite and other things you have probably heard. But there was one stone that caught my interest called Galena!
It seemed somewhat shiny and cool and I had never heard of it so I told him I want it.
I went to his place, paid and now a few hours later I am the proud owner of this cool little stone:
Taking a proper photo of the mineral proved to be a hard task and I to be fair I totally failed.
It's much more intriguing from up close. Somewhat black with silver and blue shines coming here and there depending on the angle and the light. It's really cool from up close!
And in case you wonder what the fuck Galena actually is, here's the answer:
Galena, also called lead glance, is the natural mineral form of lead(II) sulfide (PbS). It is the most important ore of lead and an important source of silver
Galena is one of the most abundant and widely distributed sulfide minerals. It crystallizes in the cubic crystal system often showing octahedral forms. It is often associated with the minerals sphalerite, calcite and fluorite. source
I guess the silver sparkles coming out of it are literal silver!
Unlike that big ass pyrite stone I have that may shine silver but it's nothing but fool's silver
Tldr, another silly treasure for the collection 😁
