Hi, lions! This time I’m going to talk about our favorite topic. Leo Finance of course. I’ve around for a month and it has been an intensive learning as I never had in any other area of Hive. It has been tough but very rewarding. This means I have a whole lot of information to make sense on my brain and it also will be changing soon, because Leo Finance is in a month and a year of evolution and awesome plans to give an experience that for me it’s a great mix of what exists on web2 and can exist also on web3.
My experience joining the adoption campaign on Zealy
Before joining it I knew very little about Leo, I just knew it was a community dedicated to finances with a very tight set of rules to post. I heard about the campaign on a discord program, I didn’t even knew which program to be honest, I just joined last minute and learned about Zealy and all we had to do two days before the start of the campaign. It was a little complicated, or more like easy but with many steps, just to set everything up before starting. I didn’t think I could get very far on the race, there were several tasks that were too complicated for me or that I thought, but I have been able to stay in the top 20 and then the top 10 for a while and well, I hope to stay there until the end.
The first task were just warming up, they helped get used to the platform, how to thread, how to use the tags, how to create threadstorms, how to navigate the site, and learn the best practices while using the new UI. Then the more specialized tasks started and I really wanted to get as far as possible so I joined four of them: The Hustler, The Finance Bro, The Artist, and The Partnership Creator. I also made some power up for The visionary but I’m not sure I’ll be able to get to the final boss, it’s too much for me. Joining all of them go me into the top 10 but there is people there very active also doing all of them, it’s a very hard race, also very motivating.
The connections I’ve made due to the race have been incredible, with users with a great reputation and with other users that are in the race just like me, form Latin-American and all over the world. The sole experience has given me a lot. Of course I want to get to the end and get my share of the rewards pool, but I have also gotten enough to make the experience worth it.
My take on the Leo token
I’m trying to learn about tokenomics since that is topic we touch when on-boarding people. They always ask about it because the idea of the token is pretty good sounding. It takes time to understand all the concepts, I already had a time learning when I joined Leo Finance, so I was interested on the idea of getting the token and hold it. Leo Finance explained what they did with the supply to help the price to go up, and the explanations with the graphics made me understand more about how the offer and demand can be regulated so the market doesn't get saturated with the token, lowing the price.
I see the token also has utility when it comes to getting and giving rewards, access a curation, and other properties, and has a big project with well thought goals to back it up. Some tokens I see they have value and I see a community but I just don't understand where they are going or if they are there just for the fun, so knowing the team and project behind the $leo I can feel more confidence about buying and staking the token.
I see it going up because there it more utility coming to the platform, which will make more attractive holding it waiting for when it goes past $1 and even more.
Growing one article at a time
I took on the challenge of writing about finance even though it was not my area before, because I wanted to learn and of course get more points, even though that quest takes a long time and the points per article are not that much.
But doing this have forced me to investigate and learn about blockchains I didn't even know existed, about other cryptocurrency, how the different token works, the different methods of consensus and the different protocols the blockchains can follow, that can be very complex or very crazy, like one called "Proof of Meme". I found it hilarious because under the same name there is one that just used the word to define a kind of up to date information, and other is literally keep sending memes.
I've also investigated for the articles and around them. I like to improvise and write stuff from the top of my head, but I can't improvise numeric data nor can improvise about topics I don't comprehend. So I follow references and do more research than I need for the article just to understand the topic and be sure I know what I wrote.
New UI vs Old UI
Joking, I don't care much about the old UI, it's gone and I didn't even use it.I think I maybe did it for a Power Up Day and that's it. But I do know the new UI and it's changes from launch to now. At the beginning it was way more unstable. It was impossible to thread at a constant rhythm and a lot of notifications went lost, unable to open. The posts were in a "Explore" section that was easy to go but didn't say clearly what could you find there, now it says "Articles" and is easy to understand. We also gained since the start, the possibility of copy links, down voting, edit and delete threads. Right now it's way faster but still needs some improvement.
I have to confess, I barely get ads on my screen so I don't watch them.
Leo Finance community
Right now I see it both united and divided. United because I see the same names on different topics, commenting each other, to other people, hanging out on Discord, but divided because there is people still mourning the old UI, asking when is going to get back, asking who the new users are, not wanting nothing to do with threads, and constantly putting pressure on the long form posts. Missing the past.
On the other hand, there is a lot of new users, a lot of lovers of the microblogging, that love the new UI and are waiting for updates to upgrade the features, not to go back.
There is also a debate on Will Leo still be about finance if threads are open to everything? And I thing the threads will bring more people but the finance content will not disappear, I mean, long form content is still under the financial related rules, they wont be about your favorite movie, that is only reserved for threads, and people that wants to talk about finances can do it there. It's evident that the usage of the platform is way better now that when it was just long form content, much of us that do threads and long form were not familiar with Leo Finance at all, and a big community is needed for the token to gain value and the platform to gain reputation. Of course, with the majority of people doing a reasonable use and not spamming.
Future in Leo Finance
From the team We have heard about the plans for the rest of the year and into 2024. Leo Threads will also hold audio, live audio, short videos, all around short form content creation. It would make easier the interactions and the networking, also the user experience for web2 users getting into web 3.
I work with my team on Hive Barquisimeto doing adoption campaign, for Hive, we do business, students, teachers, entrepreneurs, and more. I see Leo Finance being a great landing for them, easy for account creation an easy to get started. The only barrier I see is language, so for the future it would be awesome for the platform to have multiple language options for the menu, and maybe even an integrated translation option. The first one might be easier but the second is not impossible.
Fun Fact
To finish I want to share some dumb reasons why I feel a connection to Leo: I'm Leo. I've seen peoples alters name.leo, well my email is tsunsicaleo. The first Leo Power Up Day was last year on my birthday. So I hope those are good signs and my relationship with Leo will be long and productive. And there is a project in Spanish coming out soon, be in the look out for the news. See you on the next time!
