Casually strolling on the streets of Twitter when I stumbled on the news.
Elon Musk’s bid to buy Twitter.
First thing that came to my mind was, “This guy!”

The billionaire had a press conference in Canada talking about it, that was when I figured he meant business. Someone quoted that the Tesla CEO tweets like a teenager, to be honest I myself hardly take him serious either. Up until now.

The fascinating thing about all this is that Mr Musk is willing to offer his $43 billion bid in CASH.
He goes on to announce that if the company does not accept his high price he will reconsider his position as a Twitter shareholder. He says “this is not a threat”. When we all know damn well that it is though.
Mr Musk demands to purchase every single share of the company he does not already own for $54.20 each.

But why Twitter?
Well the billionaire demands change as well as to encourage freedom of speech in the best way possible.

Here are some of Musk’s new projects for Twitter:

  • To convert headquarters to a shelter for the homeless
  • Create an open source model for the app’s algorithm
  • For users to get check marks with no ads
  • To pay for Twitter subscription in crypto
  • Defeat spam bots
  • Make sure to authenticate real humans
  • Add edit button and so on.

According to replies under his tweet, some people disagree by saying he should consider creating his own social media platform instead of trying to manipulate Twitter. While others entirely support him simply impressed by the length he is willing to take to support and promote free speech by owning one of the most substantial media platform.

Also by this new Musk’s ideas, he is giving the critics a voice instead of censoring or suppressing them.
While there are multiple downsides to this, but it looks like Mr Musk just doesn’t care.
If he succeeds, there will be little or no regard for content moderation, misinformation and hate speech might drastically increase, literally those things these media platforms try to hide or manage will be released to the masses without consequences.
But on the upside, people are allowed to freely air their thoughts be it demeaning or not.

My thoughts; Free speech can be in form of lies, misinformation, hate speech etc. that might not be what the billionaire aims for but what measures will be taken to ensure Twitter by his management does not turn into that.

An update on the deal is still yet to be passed so wait we shall.

Hive Power Up Month - Feedback from April day 21

Wonder if the shadow bans that exist on hive users will come to a close now

We just have outright brutal attacks on alternative ideas here that I'm aware of, no shadows about it.

It sucks to always have to break it down to us versus an unknown "they", but the shadow banning does seem to be real to me. Free speech is of course a slippery slope due to the types of content that children could run into, but it feels like a necessary price for maintaining freedom

I think I misunderstood, I thought you meant Hive was Shadow banning, but I now realize you mean Hive IS shadow banned on twitter.

If twitter turned into hate speech it would be a turn off for most people and they would leave.

The fact is some people DO hate, and silencing them doesn't change that.

Most people don't hate and aren't interested in listening to real hate speech.

However, if someone is critical of someone, it isn't always a hate issue and I think that is what everyone is sick of.

Cant people just unfollow?

I dont spend enough time on Twitter to know. Isnt there a way to filter the content you see?

Absolutely you can manage it with following, muting and blocking. It's easy.

Some people just like to be sad and mad and pretend tiny things are going to have a huge impact on their lives.

Some people just like to be sad and mad and pretend tiny things are going to have a huge impact on their lives.

That is true.

My point was if there is a threat to "hate speech" or other distasteful stuff along with fake news spreaders (not to be confused with the mainstream media-those other fake news people), then just block, mute, silence, and press the go away button.

As for me, just give me ProjectBlank and be done with it.
