🪒🔊MAIN DISCOURSE. Success is a word that is almost on the lips of everyone because everyone wants to succeed. Success also is the outcome of an acceptable process. Any success whose process lacks merit has no honour, if it has at all, it is in the immediate and does not last. Yet it is a choice. Yes, succeeding rightly is a choice. The end justifies the means is a theory of Consequentialism and is an aberration of the gospel. The theory holds that the moral quality of an action is completely determined by its consequences or results. What this implies is that you can steal what you desire in as much as it gives you the satisfaction you want. You can lie on a resume for a job, you can fake certificates, nationality, origin, and even birthdate as much as it guarantees you get the job. You can betray your superior to take over his seat. You can discredit, defame and denigrate a colleague and brother to attain your ambition. Well, at the last check, Heaven's standard has not changed. Succeeding through unscrupulous means is a success that has no honour. Abimelech, the son of Gideon never enjoyed that honour after he succeeded the throne of his father over Israel at the expense of the lives of his seventy brothers.

Barak was an Israelite of the tribe of Naphtali. He was chosen by God through Deborah to lead the people to gain their deliverance from the hands of the Canaanites. He was more obsessed with the success of his assignment than the process. He made his choice to defy protocols and go to war with a woman by his side. All he wanted was just the success. He didn't mind the consequences even after being warned by Deborah. The word interpreted as honour in the above scripture also means glory. It means the beauty that comes with achievement. It is good feeling to be successful yet it is better to earn success with integrity and a good name. Don't earn success at the detriment of another man's name and life. You don't need to pull others down to climb. The former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan asserted in his famous campaign elocution: "My ambition is not worth anyone's blood". May you succeed right.
Success is sweeter when it is achieved through due process.

PRAYER:

Dear God, help us to follow Your path to Success. That is true success that make rich and add no sorrow in the end. The final analysis, we are better of and we gain heaven - Amen.
