Hi guys. I hope you all are fine. I am doing well too. The holy month of Ramadan has started and it is weekend as well. I would like to share with you all about how my weekend in Ramadan has started.

I am a keen reader. I love reading different types of books. My routine has changed and to address the spare time that I get, I went out in the market to buy some books for myself. I am more into novels and fiction stories. I have a degree in English Literature which is why my interest in this regard is very clear.

I usually go to this shop because the owner is very friendly and simple. Yesterday, he asked for the list of the books that I wanted. I did not have a list of the books that I wanted because it was all so random and unplanned. I went through a few books, all of them looked very interesting. I was fasting this is why I could not stand there for so long. I picked a few books and left for my home. In the evening, I had to meet my friends for Iftar.

In Ramadan, Muslims keep fasts. The duration of fasts is different in different countries. Here in Pakistan, the fast starts from 5:20 in the morning to 6:30 in the evening which means around 13 hours. Iftar is when the fast is broken in the evening.

I and my friends had decided to meet and break our fast together. It is something cultural now here in this part of the world. We met after the Friday prayer. We went to the calm side of the city. It is a village where my friend owns fields. The atmosphere there was so serene. We stayed there for a bit and found solace in those calm moments.

After that, we went to a nearby hotel. We ordered food for our iftar. In the meantime, we had conversation about different topics ranging from politics to technology. At 6:37, we broke our fasts with this delicious meal. I believe that we get a sense of what the poor factions of the society go through when we are fasting. Moreover, we also get the hint of how blessed we are. Drinking a sip of water after being thirsty for 13 hours made me realize that I should always value these things and be thankful. A sense of being connected to the poor factions of the society also came rushing into my head.

Wow, it is good you like reading, especially at this time. You also met with friends and had some friendly discussions before the need to end the fast came in.

The pictures taken look super good.

I congratulate you on the habit of reading, it is perhaps the most important habit to form ourselves intellectually, to learn about the world and other cultures. The concept you have of fasting is very interesting, that is important, because you transcend the meaning of sacrifice and understand it as a way of approaching and understanding the limitations and needs experienced by the poorest.
