What if I wrote about my life every weekend for the rest of my life...
Hi everyone. All protocols duly observed as this is my first post in this community. My name is Matilda, I joined Hive a few days ago and it has been a nice experience so far.
Isn't it just right that my very first weekend blog happens to be the last weekend of the year? 😁
Anyways, I intend to blog about my week every weekend in 2024. I will try my best not to miss any week (hopefully🤞) . So here's how my week went.
Monday was Christmas. (Merry Christmas in arrears guys) I hope y'all had a great time like I did. Well, other than the fact that I spent half of the day cooking and was exhausted at the end, it went pretty well. My mum and I prepared two meals, it was really tasking. But at the end, my siblings and I helped ourselves to a plate of jollof rice with fried chicken and salad. While my parents had white rice with palm kernel stew (also called banga stew). I must say, it was indeed a banger. We all washed it down with a chilled can of malt drink while watching an old classic Nollywood movie
Tuesday till Friday was a breeze. It was mostly house chores and gisting with my siblings, long calls with a few friends and the usual. Yesterday, I tried practicing my makeup look for Sunday, why? Because it's been a long time since I wore makeup. So I had to try it again, so I don't go looking like a clown to church on Sunday, lol. At night, I loosened my hair, it was just cornrows but boy! Was it tiring. Good thing my arms recovered on time, else I won't be typing this right now.
Saturday. So, first thing this morning I went to make my hair. Guess my hairstyle. If you guessed braids, wrong. If you guessed weave-ins, hmm, wrong. Cornrows? You're right! And yes, cornrows, AGAIN! I'm going to be rocking my beautiful natural hair into the new year. Actually, its because I couldn't afford to get braids 😂 Anyhoo, after I got home I rested a little, chatted a little, wrote a little. Then I was off to the market to get things for Sunday and New year day meals. The market was crowded, jeez. I held my purse tightly and maneuvered my way to the stalls where I bought the items on my list. In a little over an hour, I was home.
Its Sunday. I wore a new dress to church and I must say I looked good cause I got a ton of compliments😊 Mass finished earlier than usual so that we could have more time to ourselves then come back for Crossover night. My brother @kelvinpeters took some pictures of me after mass.
Crossover night was lit as always. My church is very big and always full every New Year's eve. The vigil lasted 2 hours and 30 minutes. Immediately it was 12am the whole building shook, literally.
The fireworks, the jubilation, everyone danced and sang their hearts out. It was loud and yet exciting.
From me to y'all, Happy New Year! 🎊🤗
Thanks for reading. Till next time, have a lovely week🌹
PS: this was supposed to be up yesterday as I had written it earlier but for some reasons I couldn't post. Regardless, consider it a weekend post.
