Its another weekend engagement with interesting topics. Option 3 looks more appealing to me.
Assume you could acquire a single habit overnight, what would it be and why would you like to have it. How would it impact your life, be of benefit or add value and is there a reason you want that particular habit but don't yet have it?
I'll really love to be able to multitask. Deep down, i so much admire and sometimes envy people around me who can multitask successfully.
I think it is more of a habit than ability because I've seen people master it over the years.
I've also noticed this to be very common with the XX gender although i dont know why this is so. I'm always amazed and surprised when I see people engage in 3 to 4 activities simultaneously with good outcome without one affecting the other.
My wife comes to mind easily. There were times when we'll be in the sitting room and seeing a movie together. She can actually be cooking and monitoring the food, watching out for the clothes in the washing machine and at the same time replying chats on her phone while watching the movie.
A little distraction like ordinary chat for me will throw me off balance and I'll still have to stylishly ask for update about the movie and surprisingly, she'll still narrate the scenes I didn't focus on and this always amaze me.
Even at my work place, they know me.
Once I'm in a conversation with a patient or making a documentation, I can't do any other thing as simple as listening to someone. All my attention can only be on a single task per time and any little distraction will throw me off balance.
If I'm on my phone, then I'm on it 100%. If I'm working on a laptop, then it must be that laptop alone. If I'm working on a patient, I mustn't be distracted either. When it comes to task, I'm a one way traffic kind of person.
You may not believe it that as simple as defecating on the WC and being on my phone can be difficult at times. I really want to know how to do multiple tasks at the same time.
The only thing I'm good at multitasking on is sorting out patients in cases of accidents and emergencies and I think this was acquired with the training and not an ability or a habit.
How would it impact your life, be of benefit or add value
It will be very beautiful to be able to multitask successfully. I've tried on several occasions and I realized I can't do it for now because the results are always messy.
If I can multitask, I believe it will enable me to accomplish more tasks within a short time and channel the remaining time to rest or have more things done.
I also want to be able to diversify my attention without loosing concentration. Then, I'll be able to communicate with people, have a task at hand, be on my phone and be more productive.
Is there a reason you want that particular habit but don't yet have it?
I have this inner convictions delaying me from actively learning this habit.
- I believe multitasking only increases the quantity of results produced at the expense of the quality.
- I also believe that it is more of a woman thing than for guys though I've seen few guys with this habit.
These are personal reasons mostly from experience however seeing people around me who does it every time successfully still make me think I can master the act if I'm more intentional about it and I believe I'll achieve this some day.
