Hello, beautiful community, greetings and blessings to all. Today I want to share with you my weekend experience, which by the way was great.
I have always loved walking outdoors, enjoying nature, but here in my city the hiking groups usually do these activities in the mornings from Monday to Friday, and unfortunately they coincide with my work schedule and it is impossible for me. But when you want something strongly the universe responds to your demand, last weekend, I received an invitation from a friend to climb the Cerro La Cruz, located in the town of the Council of the Municipality José Rafael Revenga, and that every year they perform this activity as a way of pilgrimage to thank the rains and crops.
That great cross that today watches over the town of El Consejo from the top of the hill that limits it on the north side, was placed on May 3, 1955, by orders of Jacques Clermont, who at that time was the presbyter. Together with Father Clermont, a group of enthusiastic villagers joined together to make this dream come true.
The erection of the Cross was a great achievement and a great event for the people of the Council who participated in the pilgrimage that started from the main square to the place where the Cross was erected, while doing so they made chants, prayers etc., from there it became a tradition year after year, since that date.
In this year 2023 I wanted to participate thanks to the invitation made to me by my great friend Rossana. The concentration was in the main square of the town of the Council, at 4:30 pm, to later go up at 5:00 pm, because the sun at this time is very strong. I was not in that concentration because I was at my friend's house, who happens to live near the place where the ascent to Cerro la Cruz starts, and from there we left.
The climb is quite steep, but you can enjoy a beautiful landscape, and down surrounded by high mountains the beautiful town of Consejo.
There I met Mrs. Luisa Tablante, a resident of the Council, who at 82 years old still keeps her promise to climb the Cerro la Cruz, and she does it better than many of us.
And as I was telling you, the universe listened to me, since there in that hike, groups of hikers participated, there I met a colleague who urged me to participate in her group called Band Send Band, I tell you that I joined and I have been participating in these long mountain hikes, which I will tell you about in another post.
