Last week tuesday I was invited to the birthday party of a close friend with the freedom to come with a plus one if available. I was really excited to go as I had been working non stop without having any fun since the year began. I already knew I was going with my girlfriend because I was planning on getting wasted so I needed her to stay close by to aid me get back to my place.
The party was scheduled for Saturday and boy was it a doozy. There were drinks, shots , pretty ladies and all kinds of fun the party was going to be a memorable one. The moment we stepped into the building at about 9:16 pm, there was a guy already vomiting behind the door. I smiled with all 32 of my teeth on display whispering to myself "the worse is yet to happen". I stepped with my girlfriend and found myself facing a drinking contest which I planned on joining after I take a piss.
I told my girl to give me a minute so I can use the restroom to prepare for the drinking games only to find her 6mins later drunk after one glass of Heineken. I did not even know how to react as my support will be needing supporting because she was sure to fall asleep soon after meaning I was adult seating for the rest of the party.
The rest of the party went off like a bomb, the lights in the room were turned off and we had to dance in the dark. A friend of mine tapped me that he wanted to pee and I should show him the door as he was also drunk. I led him outside, went back to dance but I was uncomfortable. I kept having this premonition that something bad was going to happen so I decided to check on my friend, I headed straight for the restroom but he was not there . After three minutes of thorough searching, I found floating in the pool, I rushed in and dragged him out and discovered he had already passed out. Luckily for us he was still alive but that had to be a sign that this was the end of the party for us. I called my girlfriend and his girlfriend that it was time to take him home and at around 1 am there were barely any vehicles to take us home as it was a curfew in lafia a state in Nigeria so we had no option but to walk it home.
I had to give my friend Peggy back home but the bright side is our houses were close to the hotel where the party happened. We all got to our homes without much complications on the way and my friend could not remember anything from what transpired at the party the next day.
Other than the fact that I had to baby sit three adults, the party was quite an event and I hope I get to experience more nights like that in the days to come.
