Hi Hive friends! It’s me, Dan, your friendly newbie high school blogger, and I’m back again with another story. I would like to share the celebration of my grandma's birthday. Last weekend, my family celebrated my grandma's birthday at one of our favorite restaurants here in Guiuan,
Kaunan ni Sangkay.
Kaunan ni Sangkay is located in Brgy. Pagnamitan, the term Kaunan ni Sangkay is translated in the local dialect as "Friend's Restaurant" and it is a very nice place to hang out and eat with your family and friends, or even just by yourself.
Not only do they have many kinds of delicious foods, but the setting of the restaurant is also located at a beachfront. You get to enjoy an amazing view and the refreshing sea breeze all while enjoying their best-selling food and specialties.
Every time I go to Kaunan ni Sangkay, there is always that one food that becomes my favorite in their menu. Well, it is not typically a food but a dessert rather. It is their famous halo-halo, topped with their homemade ice cream and leche flan.
Now, let's talk about the foods that we ordered.
We ordered some pancit, spaghetti, pork ribs, and their sizzling sisig, which I also liked. Of course, my little sister, Dannah, also ordered some fried chicken, her all-time favorite. Tito Paul also bought a cake from Goldilocks. We sang Happy Birthday to Mommy as she blew the candle off the cake, and just feasted on the delicious food afterwards.
Which do you prefer? Pancit Noddles or Spaghetti? We can't choose so we ordered both. Both honestly if it was up to me, I prefer Pancit especially the one's that Mommy cooks at our house during special occasions.
I also liked this Caldereta. The meat was tender and easy to chew, although I prefer if they added more chili to make it a bit spicy, just like the way Mommy used to cook hers.
Overall, We just enjoyed our lunch here at Kaunan ni Sangkay. It’s just a shame that we weren’t complete that day because my mom is working in Cebu and was not able to come home to celebrate mommy's birthday, and also my Tito Ajay also has a part-time job in a catering service.
So it was just me, my siblings, Tito Paul, Tita Salve, Savin, and Mommy. But nevertheless, it was just a fun and memorable day.
I remember last year, we only celebrated my grandma's birthday at our house because we had a lack of budget. But it was also nice because we got to celebrate with our neighbors and friends. They could just come into our house, and we also sang karaoke at our house. It was so nice and amazing. It was such an unforgettable bonding with my family.
It is not really that fancy or something, but it is pure love, and what's important is that we enjoyed our bonding together and had a good time. I just wish my grandma a happy birthday and I pray that the Lord may give her blessings and always guide her and keep her healthy always.
Can you guess how young Mommy is? hehe
Anyhow, if ever you get a chance to visit Guiuan, I highly recommend that you visit Kaunan ni Sangkay and try all of the food they serve there.
I guarantee you that you would absolutely like it. Let me also show you more pictures of the inside of Kaunan ni Sangkay.
Here are more pictures.
They even have playpens for kids completre with slides and swing set.
As you can see, there are a lot of spaces, so no need to worry. They even have huts, tables, and chairs located on the hillside, providing a much more beautiful view of the scenery.
I really love the breathtaking beach view there. If you come here to Guiuan, Eastern Samar, I would recommend this restaurant to you because "Kaunan ni Sangkay" is the typical type of place that you can enjoy or relax in. That's all, Hive friends!
