So I was very much undecided about the prompt because I had no idea how I'd go about talking about one of my favorite things without showing samples. The best I could do is this...

Forgive the low quality but I am going to talk about one aspect of my life almost no one knows about– Rap!
I love music and listen to almost anything but I have a particular genre I enjoy a lot. It's Hip hop. I was listening to Eminem and Logic for a while, and a little bit of old school but I stumbled unto NF and my mind was blown. I started following NF since 2020, I downloaded his whole albums from Mansion to the then recent which was THE SEARCH and now it's CLOUDS. I have most of his singles but not all of them.
Nate Feurestein known by the stage name NF grew up abused and developed the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). While I'm not ocd, I did go through the Cyclothymic Disorder. His song MANSION was very vivid and he talked about all he went through (well most of it). My personal favorite is Leave Me Alone, and trust me, I spit words not murmur them.
Before I started listening to NF, I have had a passion for music and tried rapping once when I was invited. I sucked. I couldn't come up with words. My head was empty.
About eight months listening to NF, I could spit out his words that I get carried away, rapping to his songs even on the road. I get weird looks but what do I care? His lyrics resonates deep with my feelings and he says things that are in my head. It's like he takes the words right out of my mouth and creates magic with rhythm. Hehe. Listen to Outro by NF.
His song Outcast also speaks to me and for me, the line "I'm high off the music my head's in the clouds..." Is exactly how I get when those headphones hits my ears. And it got better when I discovered I could actually write my own Rap! Ha!
One night, around 12am, a friend of mine who happens to be a producer sent me two of his works. While listening I felt words floating in my head I could practically see them. I asked for his permission to use them and there and then at exactly 1:32am, my first ever E.P MAD VIBES was created. It's just 1:31 long but it is and always would be my first born.
Consequently after that, I kept writing Raps non-stop and my friend kept sending me his beats. He believes in me. Lol. Then one day, He sent a sustained Rap I made and Titled DON'T TOUCH ME to some friends of his and one of the guys immediately told him "I feel like I'm listening to the female version of NF." I felt so good, so MOTIVATED (that's an NF song).
When I told some other guy who came to where I worked then that I just started rapping around November 2020 after he listened to some of my songs, he didn't believe me. He said "Those words...the vocabulary... it's not possible and if it is... you're a gift not talent."
He said I still needed improvement but my progress was astounding. I would have played it for y'all but I'm not sure 3Speak is allowed for use.
Anyway, Music is my other creative side apart from writing and it's something I do almost all the time. I'm currently working on one titled "MADE" and it's awesome already for me.
Whenever I have to work on my song, I take at least two days listening to the beat sent. The first hour listening to it, I just enjoy it and try to connect with it. If I can't connect with the instrumental, I don't bother working on it. Music is about the soul for me.
If I do connect with it, I close my eyes and just like that, I get a title. Then lyrics begin to form. When that happens, I sit back and let them mature. When it becomes mature, it gets so visual. I see the lyrics on paper already. That always takes two days maximum. When I'm walking on the road listening to the instrumental and able to still remember the lyrics I had in my head, I know it's done! I find a quiet place with my book and pen them down. Then I rap along and voice record before sending it. Hehe. That's how my creativity is born!
