Just a brief background: by faith, my wife and I acquired a property in SJDM Bulacan as an investment and in preparation for our married life. Two years have passed since we deposited our first payment, we can opt to stay there for good. But we can't because my work and our ministry are in the metro, more than 2-hrs travel away. It would be difficult for us to stay in Bulacan for now. So we have to rent a property.
This weekend we visited our Bulacan property to check our first-ever investment.
Before we went to Bulacan, we first visited my in-laws and asked them if they wanted to come with us. We brought them some shirts and doughnuts as presents. It's been a while since our last visit and I know how my wife feels delighted to check out on her family and pets from time to time.
After a few minutes of catching up, we set out to do what we are supposed to do - to pay for the utilities of our Bulacan property, and to check out how's the unit so far.
We were accompanied by my mother-in-law and my wife's nephew. It's a good thing her nephew can be persuaded to walk because I don't think I have the energy to carry him all throughout our travel. He's a big and bulkier boy now, compared to when I first saw him! Plus, he talks, reasons, and acts more like an adult now. He's just four.
After we have paid the water bill at a bills payment center, we headed to Villa Belissa. From Camarin, Caloocan, we boarded two tricycles and one jeepney. It felt like a field trip! It's fun to experience such travel but I can't imagine doing this regularly, morning and evening, to catch up on my office and family duties.
As soon as we reached our unit in Villa Belissa, we checked for the interiors. My in-law watered her plants. My wife swept the floor. I feel elated seeing the unit because the last time we visited it, we were just applying for electricity and water connections.
As of the moment, my in-laws were the ones who live in our unit. Inasmuch as we would like to earn from our unit, we cannot afford to have it rented for now because we fear that the property will not be taken care of. So for the unit to be maintained, we asked my in-laws to live on it on our behalf.
While the sky was still clear, my wife's nephew (my nephew!), visited the playground a few blocks away from our unit. We tried the swing, slides, and seesaw. We even saw some teenagers doing TikToks. It was already becoming a lively community!
When the sky turned dark, we returned to our unit and waited for my father-in-law and my wife's brothers to fetch us. It was a tiring day. But before hitting home, we made a quick stop at Jollibee for dinner.
What a tiring weekend.
