Sleep is our superpower.
Through sleeping, we will be able to recharge our energy to embark on another day to the fullest. It will help unload all the stress we're carrying and will pave a way for a calm mind as we wake up. It will be a great help for us to stay healthy-- be it physically and even mentally. In short, sleep is essential for our well-being; it's something that we must not take for granted in our system.
But what if we no longer needed sleep and still feel completely fine? What would you do with your extra hours?
Being awake 24/7 is sure fun. From day to night and vice versa, being able to witness every hour of every day would be so exciting. We will no longer complain about feeling sleepy at work, or even being sleep deprived. We will surely enjoy the whole 24 hours of our day without needing to sleep at all, isn't it amazing?
During this time, sure, beds will no longer be that needed since we will not sleep anymore. Every day we're energized without needing to recharge through sleep.
As someone who makes sure to sleep full 8 hours a day, it gives me butterflies thinking that I could spend more time doing the things I love instead of sleeping. Be it working to earn more money or even just chilling in the house and so much more. I can do the things that I love without thinking of my bed and sleeping.
Here are some things that I thought of doing if sleep was out of the frame:
1. Read More Books about Financial Literacy
Since I work eight hours a day, whenever I go home, I already feel so tired and sleepy that the books in the corner will be left in vain. If they could talk, they might be feeling bad about me knowing that I never give so much attention to them. They may feel heartbroken and want to leave if they can.
Moreover, as much as I wanted to read these books about handling finances, I tend to disregard them and give more importance to my well-being. Well not for now if sleep will be fully eradicated since I have all the time to read books after work. Perhaps the books will truly be grateful if they could talk. With that, I find these extra 8 hours a great way to make the best of my night reading books, of course.
2. Stare at the Night Sky for Hours
The moon, the stars, and just anything in between related to outer space makes my heart bloom. I can't help but love everything about it. If only I could go outside the earth and explore what's beyond there, I might have done it now. But since I don't have the superpowers to do it, I'm sticking my love for the celestial bodies here on earth.
Now, if given to stay awake without needing to sleep, I will give myself time for myself staring at the night sky all night long. I will stare at the stars and embrace the fact that they're sparkling in my eyes. In this way, I could show my adoration to them. Perhaps by that moment, I can have my telescope too that could see them. Simply thinking about it melts my heart already.
3. Learn a New Skill
I always wanted to master the art of doing makeup. I wanted to be good at it in some way. Ever since I was young, I was young, makeup has been my dream to do. My sister loves makeup so much that I wanted to be good at it, too. But since I was busy in my life in school and now that I'm having work, I can't seem to insert that with my hectic schedule. Perhaps when sleeping is no longer needed, I guess I will be able to master it one day. Aside from mastering it, I could also make it my side-hustle in some way.
4. Work at Night and Travel during the Day
If we no longer sleep, then I will interchange my working time so that I could travel during the day. By then, working at night will no longer be a struggle since I will not fight my way to stay awake. By then, I will have more time to travel to the places I want to visit and explore the world even more. I will also grind to earn more money so that expenses for traveling will no longer be a hassle.
5. Procrastinate to the Next Level
Procrastination is like my best friend sometimes. If I have extra time especially at night when I no longer sleep, then it would be perfect to procrastinate to the next level. I mean, being productive is fulfilling, but I guess there's nothing bad with procrastinating as well sometimes.
So those are the things that I thought of doing, I have thought of more, but I'll add them if it indeed magically happens in our lives
Furthermore, I'm still finding that "what if" an amazing one. I wonder how will the world turn out if that would happen here for real. I could say that if I have extra time every day, for sure it will make a huge difference in my life; a positive one for sure. But in the meantime, since we still need sleep, make sure to sleep at least 8 hours a day so that you will have a great time to embark the next day.
Happy sleeping for now then, and keep the "what if's" coming.
