A garden will make you happy especially when you see some fruits ready for harvest.
Last Sunday, I and my younger brothers went home to visit our grandmother and our mother. It is also a day to say goodbye to my brother who will go back to Manila the next day.
Going home is always exciting. It means I can relax for a while. It means I can have time for my family and a visit to a place we were born.
We just bring fish for our viand and some bread. Kids really love it as how we loves it when we were still a child.
We reached there at almost noon, so we cook the fish we brought and we had our lunch all together.
After the lunch, we stayed in the room where our grandma is sitting. We didn't turn on the tv but instead we had some chit chat until we were able to remember our childhood memories.
My four younger brothers recited a line from a known radio station about a dengue advertisement. They recited it well with proper words and tone and then laugh after. They still remember it because we only have radio back then.
Then they remember how they hide under the bed or at the back of the door when mother will about to punish them because of their naughtiness. We laugh out loud together and my cheeks is aching because of too much laughing.
They also said that there is time our mother were so angry with them because they were so noisy and our youngest is still sleepong who is a young baby that time. Mother got angry because they keep on laughing while they were in bed. They laugh because a piece of rice from a mouth particularly in a side of the teeth get out and it smells so bad. They can't stop laughing even our mother is go angry with them.
I told them that I am not familiar with the story. Where am I that time? Then I realized that it was the time I wasn't home because I stayed in my Aunt's house as a working student.
We laugh out loud until we had a teary eyes. It was a great afternoon reminiscing the past.
We then prepare a merienda, a young coconut with condensed milk, some biscuit and peanut. Can you imagine it? It's delicious.
I'm so sorry, I haven't taken any pictures because that time seems a no gadget time because we just enjoy the moment without any distractions from our mobile phones. No one got to think to took some pictures of it.
When we were done, my mother as well as my younger brothers attended a child dedication in the church next to our house and after the service they went straight to the residence to enjoy some food. I was left at home with the kids who are still sleeping and my grandmother who is blind.
This time I already get my cellphone and got the chance to took a picture.
I got that moment with my grandma who tells different story to me. She is still strong but blindness stop her from the works she used to do. She cannot see us now, she only identifies us through our voice and she will touch our face and our skin.
When she felt tired, she decided to rest and lye down. I gave her time to relax and asked her that I will go out for a while.
I was alone outside and I noticed that the calamansi had some ripe fruits. I then decided to pick it until I found another one and another one until I found myself harvesting those calamansi fruits.
I enjoyed doing it and I felt happy because it has a lot of fruits. The plant is not tall so I can just get those fruits.
This is what I've got and yes I got free calamansi for juice.
I also noticed this unique chili. Have you seen like this before? It's color is purple or violet when still unripe and turn to red orange when ripe. I was amazed by its color but I never get any because I am not fond of hot chili.
When I go around I also noticed that my mother has planted lemon grass. Oh it will give a unique aroma when cooking. This is something most Pinoy wanted to put when cooking.
I also found some spring onions and it looks they're healthy. I am happy that my mother enjoys gardening too. This is a good help for her not just in giving free vegetables but also it will give her some time to exercise by gardening.
She has some tomatoes too and look they are big and days from now mother can pick some ripe tomatoes from her garden.
She has aloevera too. This is very good natural medicine for some cuts because it will help to have a clear or light scars. It is also good for our hair. Aloevera is known to have a lot of benefits. Have you known any? Share some to us in the comments below.
It was a great weekend with my family and I am always looking forward for a time to be with them. We don't know when will be the next time we can be all together again. Hopefully on new year, my younger brother can go home again.
