People often say that nightmares are just reflections of what was on your mind before sleeping, or that dreams are nothing more than random, foolish thoughts. But I don’t believe that’s always true. From my perspective, dreams often carry meaning, even if they’re not immediately clear. They can be more than just random images—they can be messages trying to get through to you.
Back when I was in secondary school, I had a dream one night that stuck with me. In the dream, my mum and i were travelling to my school, and we were stopped on the road by some people. At the time, I didn’t think much of it. I was young and i just had this idea that it was just a mere dream.
Fast forward a few weeks later, I was on my way to school with my mum driving. As we approached a particular road, she accidentally entered the wrong lane. Without realizing it, she was caught up in the moment, and road officials who were hiding nearby jumped out and stopped us.
They are normally called the (Federal Road Safety Corps). One of them , just opened the back door, sat down beside me and demanded that she pull over for breaking the road rules.
They were going to take us into custody unless she paid a hefty fine. I don’t remember the exact amount, but it was a lot. My mum tried explaining that she hadn’t noticed she was on the wrong lane because she was in a rush to drop me off at school, and I sat there in the backseat, crying. I was frustrated and regretted not telling her about the dream I’d had. Maybe if I had, we could’ve avoided the situation altogether.
After a lot of pleading, the officials finally let us go, but it took so long, and I was stressed out by the whole experience. It was a bad day for both of us.
Looking back, that dream wasn’t just random or foolish. In fact, it could have been a warning, a way to prepare us for what was coming. If I had paid more attention to it, we might have avoided all that trouble.
I believe dreams can serve as a way to protect us from danger or give us insight into future events. And even though, not everyone is good at understanding their meaning, there are people who have a real gift for interpreting dreams. If you ever have a dream where you or someone close to you is in a risky situation, it might be worth sharing with someone who can help make sense of it. You never know—those insights might just save you or someone else from harm or danger that might occur in the future.
In the end, dreams can be more than just illusions—they can be a way to look ahead, even when the meaning isn’t always obvious at first.
