I am not a fan of alcohol.

I don’t take alcohol. Infact, the last time I tried it was few months ago when I was hanging out at my friend’s house. I was just curious to see what all the hype was about and why people seem to enjoy drinking it so much. He gave me few sips of whiskey, which contained about 40% alcohol, and honestly, it was not a great experience for me.

First of all, I started feeling drowsy pretty quickly, and it was like I wasn’t even myself anymore. The taste? It was terrible—really bitter, and I’m not a fan of bitter things at all. Also, we were watching a very interesting movie, but after a while, I couldn’t even focus on it. It just felt boring all of a sudden that I ended up dozing off and taking a nap.

One of the reasons why i have chosen to stay away from alcohol is because of my mum. I am currently living with my mum and she has a very strong opinion about drinking—she thinks it’s really bad, and honestly, if she ever found out I drank, she’d be furious and very angry with me. She’s the type who might even go as far as disowning me if she caught me drinking.

But on a deeper level, I also avoid alcohol because of a personal experience. One of my uncles, who I really loved, was a lover of beer. He was such a kind and generous person, but alcohol took over his life. By the time he was 55, alcohol was already to much in his system that it led to kidney problems, which eventually took his life. Losing him was extremely painful for our family, and seeing what alcohol did to him taught me a hard lesson about the real dangers of drinking.

Personally, i dont think alcohol is evil or anything, but I believe in drinking responsibly. I just don’t see the point in drinking to the point where you lose control or get drunk and start misbehaving. A lot of people that i know , drink to show off or see how much they can handle, and that is where it really becomes a problem.

In conclusion, alcohol has its dangers, especially when it’s consumed in large amounts. Also, some alcoholic drinks contains very high amount of harmful substances that can do real damage to the body over time—not just to the kidneys but in other ways that maybe very harmful and dangerous to a person's health. So my advice is that be mindful of what you drink and even if you’re going to drink, do it wisely and avoid pushing your limits just to impress people.

Sometimes, peer pressure may push one in trying out what is not convenient but one's personality prevails in the end.
It ought to be that when trying out stuff like alcohol, moderation is necessary not to stumble and become a reference for such an awkward occurrence.

LEO Power Up Day - September 15, 2024

The first time I drank alcohol I was a child and I drank it out of mischief. I do drink occasionally on birthdays or parties, it all depends on each person, I am one of those who think that if you do not know how to set limits, it is better not to drink too much, it hurts.
