Introduction
Hi friends, how are you all doing? Am posting in this community for the second time and I will be choosing the aspect of honesty or not as my contest entry topic from the fresh topics @galenkp gave, am so sorry for how his week went 😥, everything happens for a reason sir and am sure you know that.
Honesty or not
On Saturday when I was coming back from church, I decided to buy biscuits for my younger sister so that she can allow me rest, I branched a supermarket in my area and went to the biscuit department and selected the ones am sure she will like.
Customers in the supermarket were too much for the woman to attend to and her two daughters who normally assist her weren't present in the supermarket. The place was so crowded that someone can be able to steal lots of things and leave the supermarket without being noticed.
After selecting the biscuits am sure my sister will like, I waited for the woman to attend to me and I had only three biscuits in my hands, festo, milk power and milky cookies. They are all good biscuits to eat daily most especially that of milk power. I remember when my mum used to buy that biscuit for me to carry to school with bobo juice, I enjoyed it alot.
Product | Price |
---|---|
Festo | NGN50 |
Milk power | NGN50 |
Milky cookies | NGN50 |
Finally it got to my turn I that was when I saw the woman's face clearly that day, she was sweating profusely and looking tired, I even pitied her. She asked me what I bought and I showed her the biscuits before my phone started ringing. I picked the call while she package the biscuits and I paid her NGN200.
The woman gave me my change/balance while I was still looking elsewhere making the call, I took the biscuits and left the supermarket immediately because of the way other customers where yelling for their turn to reach and the supermarket was so noisy.
I kept the money in my pocket and went straight home. When I arrived home I gave my sister the biscuit and removed the money from my pocket, it was a NGN100 Nigerian note and I was surprised because I knew that money was never in my pocket. It was NGN50 that was supposed to be in my pocket.
That was when I discovered that the innocent woman gave me NGN100 instead of NGN50 because I gave her NGN200 and purchased three biscuits that costs NGN150 remaining NGN50 which is meant to be my change. Without wasting time I rushed back to the supermarket before I fall into the devil's trap, I went their and discovered that customers were only 2 in number.
I greeted the woman and she asked me what I wanted. I explained everything to her and she became surprised that she made such a silly mistake and I also summoned courage to return the money. The woman thanked me so much and blessed me that day. I felt proud of myself.
Conclusion
Honesty has and will always be the best policy friends. Right from when I was in secondary school have been honest, I wasn't honest during my primary school days, I also steal alot then but I see those things as childishness, I didn't know what I was doing. Hope you all had a wonderful weekend? Bye for now.
