"The great art of life is sensation, feeling that we exist, even in pain”.
I really liked this phrase for my reflection this week because it is closely related to the postulates of one of the disciplines that I promote and practice: Biodanza.
According to the creator of Biodanza (Rolando Toro), humanity has detached itself from its body to live according to the imposed social conditionings that take it away from its instinctive part.
Based on this, Rolando affirms that through Biodanza he seeks that the individual who practices it connects again with his body and his feelings, thus rescuing the natural and instinctive, from an affective and caring space.
I remember that before coming to Biodanza I lived on autopilot and was disconnected from the body; I only paid attention when I was in pain.
After the car accident I had, those calls of attention of the body for “pain” were becoming more frequent and intense, and I began to observe that the link I had with my body was through pain.
In Biodanza, I understood the true meaning of living “here and now” with all my presence, my senses were awakened and endless things were changing in me, taking another course.
Living on autopilot makes you disconnect from your senses, from the coenesthetic sensations, from enjoying each moment experienced... it is like being a dead man walking...
In the session you see in the photos, one of the exercises we did was to caress our own hands, it is an exercise that when you do for the first time you are shocked to realize how little contact you have with your own hands, those that serve you every day to do a lot of things. When you touch them with kindness, affection and care, it awakens many sensations that move the fibers of your body.
To live life from “feeling” is to be present with all our energy, to link ourselves with others, to look inward... it is to be really alive, experiencing life with all its nuances and realizing that even when what we feel is pain, it can be an invitation to move and change direction, to reflect on something, maybe to let go...
And this, in this existential laboratory, is definitely an Art.
Before I say goodbye, I invite you to do a hand caressing before going to sleep, put on some soft music of your preference, I recommend: Watermark by Enya. Close your eyes and join your hands feeling each of its parts, try different types of touches and caresses, when the music ends take them to your chest and remain in silence for a few moments...
If you dare to do it, I would love to know your experience, tell me in the comments.
Thank you for being there. See you soon
