Time travel is a concept that I've always been fascinated by, and that's because I know for a fact that most of the historical accounts we have today are grossly distorted.
While this week's prompt is not really about time travel, I believe it's a bit related since it gives one the opportunity to peek through the windows of time.
This week's prompt
The hidden camera
You can place a hidden camera, microphone and recording device in any room on the planet for twenty four hours, in the past, present or future, what room to do you place it in and why?
If given the opportunity, I'd have loved to cover a lot of historical events like The Last supper, The Battle of Waterloo, Bay of pigs, The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and many more.
But since we only get the chance to place the camera in a room, I'd have to choose the room where the 1927 Solvay conference was held.
For those who do not know, the Solvay conference is a gathering of physicists and chemists who come together to discuss topics in their fields. It was founded by Belgian chemist Ernest Solvay in 1911.
The 1927 conference which was held between October 24 to 29, was the fifth physics conference that featured the likes of Albert Einstein, Marie Curie, Neils Bohr, Paul Dirac, and some of the greatest minds in physics.
The conference had 29 attendees, and 17 out of those 29 were or later became physics Nobel laureates. Including Marie Curie (the only woman among them) who is the first and only person to have ever won the Nobel prize in two different science categories (physics and chemistry).
If I could place a camera there, one notable thing I'll be looking forward to will be the argument between Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr. The two Nobel laureates had conflicting ideas about Heisenberg's uncertainty principle. Einstein believed it was wrong, while Bohr tried to prove its authenticity.
I often wonder what it'd be like to be present in that kind of meeting. I would've loved to take part in the amazing discussions and arguments that they all had.
So, that's it for me. What about you? If you were given the same opportunity, where would you place the Hidden camera?
