Book promotion

in #hive-16886911 months ago

I am a big book lover, but have to say, unfortunately, till recently I didn't go to any book promotion. Maybe a long time ago in my home city, but not that I remember, and I probably would. That changed a couple of weeks ago, when I went on book promotion for the first time, and I was also very happy and proud that it was promotion of my friend/cousin.

At first, as I didn't know how it looks (or maybe it was this specific publisher that organize book promotions this way). I was surprised to see that promotion is in a pub downtown. I expected it to be maybe in a bookstore or some publisher's premises. So right away it was much less formal than I thought, which I liked a lot. The entire place was 'artsy' and rustic, which I also liked. But since it was nighttime, and pretty dark there, I couldn't take too many photos. As it was someone I know that was the author, there was also many people that I know and haven't seen in a while, maybe. All of that made atmosphere great, even before anything started.

I have to say a little bit more about my friend. She is only 19 (was 18 when she wrote the book) years old, and her book is a collection of short stories which she applied for a competition by the publisher, and won among over 100 other participants. You can understand now why I am so beyond proud, as she is a young writer, just starting her journey on the path to success. Her stories are about her feelings, about the current state of our country, about childhood and growing up, and she writes very mature and serious for her age, as well as complex. Since short stories seem to be an easy writing form, but they are not, because you need to tell a story with fewer words and make an impact as if it was a novel.

I came with my sister and a couple of friends, and we brought some flowers for our friend as well, so here is a photo of the bouquet. And I loved the street where the pub was a lot and made the couple of photos even tho it was darker, so they are not great.

We all already got a copy from her as gift, but we wanted to support her and bought another one. Publisher had great action and everyone that bought book also got a present (more books).
There was big line of people waiting for her to sign book as well. And you can see how happy and proud I am in the last photo.

This post is also my eight ebtry for the #hiveblopomo challenge

I am a book lover too! I can feel how happy you are having such a book. The story of the young girl is very inspiring. At an early age, she accomplished such a thing.

Always nice to meet a fellow book lover! Thank you so much, I hope this will just motivate her to keep going and accomplish even more.

You're welcome. I hope so. She had a better future ahead if she kept doing it then
