Happy Weekend Hivers! How's the weekend going at your end? It's already Sunday here on my side of the country and it means one final stretch til the workweek. Ohh, how could the weekend be just two days?
Anyway, my weekend is usual and just ordinary but upon browsing this platform, I came across the weekly prompt by @galenkp and it sparked my interest in me.
The no-device weekend
You have no computer, mobile phone or gaming console for the entire weekend. Write at least 350 words about how you feel and why and how you handle having no devices to occupy yourself with.
A weekend with no device means disaster to anyone accustomed to having his/her gadgets around. Some people can't last a day without gadgets boredom could kill them. Whatever the purpose is, may it be for communication, leisure or work purposes- our gadgets could be our trusted friend. In addition, having gadgets within our reach means we aren't susceptible to engaging in unwanted conversations.

Wake up this morning without my phone on my bedside table. I instantly open the lid of my eyes as I can't grasp my phone with my eyes closed. Still a sleepy soul, I gathered my strength to move and get up to see if it fell on the floor but to no avail. Instead, I saw a note placed on my mirror. "Do your eyes a favour" - Love Mom. Oh gosh, she must have observed how my eyes squinted the moment she open my bedroom window yesterday and now she's back assuming that my phone was the proprietor of why my eyes hurt. Oh ow.
I hate my mom sometimes. I'm already twenty-three yet she decides for me. She wanted me to grow up and be independent yet she keeps on deciding on my behalf. Now, I can't write in my journal today. What a waste.
I checked on my backpack if my laptop was spared. Oh God, she's got everything. What would I do now? After I spent a great deal of time lying on my bed and staring at the ceiling. I decided to have some breakfast. It's been a while since I prepared my own. This time there won't be any ready-to-eat breakfast meals. I would cook for myself. I would take my time cause I have got a lot without a phone by my side.
Without further ado, I rushed to the kitchen and examine what I can have for breakfast based on what was available in the pantry. Ah huh? There's an egg and avocado. Sounds like I'll have a healthy breakfast today! I muttered to myself. I put on olive oil in the pan after I finished beating the egg and mixing it with butter, salt and pepper. I got two pieces of loaf bread and dipped them into the mixture before I placed them in the pan.
I now got two slices of bread toasted in butter and egg. Now, I'll add pepper to my avocado and get a glass of milk. Breakfast is ready.
After I munched my breakfast slowly, I went back to my balcony to breathe and take in the day. I grabbed my pen and paper and scribbled through my journal for a good amount of time. It's nice to write without having distracted by my phone.
Sleepy, I came back to my bed which seems to be seducing me. I gave in. It's been a long time since I spend much time in bed. Always I would accompany it late at night and I would leave it as early as dawn. It's nice to catch up with my bed and it's perfect because I seem to regain all my strength just by sleeping for extra hours.
At the end of the day, I figured it's not bad to not have a phone. Gosh, mom. Please don't give it back to me until next week.
Thanks for reading. Until then.
