Hello everyone,
This Saturday I finally got the chance to go to the Mandurah Crab Fest. This is a famous event in the Western Australian calendar. I’ve been wanting to visit this festival for a few years, but something would always come up and keep me from going. This time I decided that nothing would stop me.
So I headed to the train station close to my home a bit after noon and one change of train lines and 1 hour later I arrived at the Mandurah train station. From there I took a shuttle to the venue where the event was happening.
I already knew that this was a big event but when I got there I realised how huge it actually was. Seriously, I was quite surprised when I saw it.
I took some pictures as I walked around the venue. You can have an idea of how popular the event is. From what I read on their website, the visitors come from all over the state.
There was a little bit for all sorts of audiences. They had a huge variety of food stalls, children's activities, pop up bars and breweries, rides, cooking demonstrations, live shows and of course, crabs.
It was hard to decide what to eat, but I ended up going for the pop up stall of a local restaurant. Some restaurants located around the venue opened a pop up stall in front of their shop to sell fast meals to the event goers.
The dish I chose was the boiled crab with potatoes, corn, a roll with tomato sauce and aioli. It is very different to the way we eat crab in Brazil, but I found it quite good. 😋
After I finished eating I went for a walk to the other side of the shore. There is a kids playground and also a skate area where they were hosting a skate competition.
I found it very interesting that the kids playground looks more like an art installation than a common playground.
Also, I saw a pelican there 😃
I’m very happy that I decided to go there this time and had a great time at the festival. I will come back again next year for sure.
