Reminds me of the old Clint Eastwood Movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. I used to really like the Dirty Harry character hard but a good person and fair.
Sometimes I feel like my life has been similar. Generally I have been really lucky and things had been good. There has always been work available and I could get jobs to pay the bills and even get ahead for the odd holiday or adventure.
I have had lots of different jobs over the years, Landscape gardening, Ski Resort kitchen hand, night shift in the Supermarket and my main career as an electrician.
The bad for me was probably just trying to get the right work life balance, working too much can be bad. I used to work too much just trying to get ahead. In the beginning I worked my full time apprenticeship as well as a night time shelf stacker at Woolies. For me night shifts and call outs where the worst. At one stage I used to wake up thinking the phone was ringing, for a middle of night breakdown but when I answered no one was there. I found working all weekend easier but neither was very sustainable and became very boring.
It took a long time to find the right balance but I think I have it now its called retired.
The bad, working long hours in shit conditions.
The good, waiting for a sold out State of Origin rugby league match to start with my son, 10 years ago.
